I'm from Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Jessy was nice to deal with and the place was spectacular, homey and clean. There were some quirky bits about it, such as the lighting others mentioned. We felt that a simple pole lamp, added in a corner or two, would not detract from the decor and would give guests the choice should they require more light. Also, as parents of a toddler, we would call the place kid friendly in that our little one loved it, but not necessarily kid safe e.g. bedroom door would not latch and had an open staircase one step outside, large unframed mirror not attached to wall, lots of small objects at child level, a few sharp edges, and other minor things we had to guard against. But we were able to make it work, and we all had a great time. Since we were there during a winter cold snap we really enjoyed the wood stove as well!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jessy's cozy home and wonderful, quiet neighbourhood. Everything we needed was on hand, we had complete privacy, peace and quiet. Would definitely look to stay there again!
A charming and cozy launching pad to explore Halifax and the area. Many thanks to Jessy. Location is very convenient for bus to city center and also parking option if you're traveling by car.
Beautiful little house, clean and bright. Very accessible to downtown Halifax by a short bus ride. Jessy is a great host, friendly, helpful and welcoming without being intrusive. She answered my many questions, was informative and ensured I was comfortable throughout my stay. I highly recommend staying at Jessy's.
My husband and another couple spent a delightful 5 nights in Jessy's place. We were quite comfortable and liked the fact we could pull our car into the driveway. We recommend this centrally located place.
Jessy's "Cool house" is a great place to stay in Halifax. We (three of us) rented the whole house for four nights. Two of us shared the queen bed and mom stayed in the double bed in the other room. The beds are comfortable!
Location is great -- on a nice street a little bit north of the Hydrostone Market. We had a car so getting around was really easy but walking or taking transit would have been easy too.
Booking was a breeze and Jessy replied quickly to messages. We didn't have a firm arrival time on check-in day but access to the keys and house was very easy even though we arrived late. Parking in the driveway and wi-fi access were also very convenient.
It's an old house typical of the area and I found it totally charming. The decor is simple and artistic. The open-concept main floor (kitchen-living room-dining) was nice for those mornings we spent having breakfast and planning the days adventures. There is a nice back deck and yard but it was fairly rainy during our stay so we didn't really get to take advantage of it, but it's nice that it's there.
It is such a nice option when visiting Halifax (or anywhere) to stay in a home, rather than a hotel. More space and more personal! Really adds to the overall enjoyment of the trip! I would definitely stay at the "Cool house" again!
My stay with Jessy and Twiggy was fantastic! Jessy's home is comfortable and homey and in a great location - Duffus Street is super close to Downtown Halifax and leads straight out to all the major highways if you're doing trips out to the rest of Nova Scotia. Jessy was a lovely host and full of great tips about the best things to do and see in the city and surrounding area. Highly recommend!
Stayed at Jessy's place for close to a week! It's well situated a short bus ride away from downtown Halifax and two of the routes are right outside the front door! Jessy is an excellent host and the house is very well kept with some nice decor too. The bed was very comfortable and it was really cool to hang with Twiggy her daschund - who certainly enjoyed playing fetch. Other notes worth mentioning is that the historic hydrostone district is just down the road as well. I would definitely stay at Jessy's again if I were in Halifax!
Jessy was the greatest host, I felt as much at home as you possibly can at someone else's house. She helped me with all the things I needed and even though she was very busy during my visit she made some time to have some conversations with me, she even invited me to a party she had at her house.
I totally recommend staying at her house, she is a very warm and welcoming person and her dog Twiggy is really cool.
This was my first experience with airbnb and a wonderful way to get started! Jessy's house was adorable and the bed OH SO COMFY! If I didn't have to be anywhere, I would have gladly slept in the mornings I was there. Jessy and I passed each other a few times but otherwise I had the house to myself. I wasn't even there that much either!
Twiggy the dog is lovable and sweet. I liked that I could walk to the drug store right up the road. The weather was perfect. All in all, this was a great experience.
Thanks for being such a great hostess, Jessy!
