What an absolutely wonderful place to get away! My friends and I stayed in Catherine's adorable cabin for the weekend to get out of the city and it was exactly what we were looking for! The kitchen was so well stocked, definitely the best I have experienced through airbnb. We cooked all of our meals at home (brought our own groceries ) and had every utensil and appliance we needed. The games, books, and movies were a great surprise which allowed us to have a relaxing game and movie night. The hot tub was amazing! Tucked away an surrounded by bamboo you feel like there is no one around for miles. Also, having a fire pit next to the hot tub was phenomenal. A majority of the rooms in the house have heated floors which really made our chilly night cozy and comfortable. Overall, everyone had an amazing time and left feeling refreshed :) Can't wait to book again!
If you are looking for an open, free environment with a natural, redwood landscape, this is the place for you! We loved all of the little touches and details in the home; the owner's attention to detail is remarkable. The home was very comfortable, the host was very communicative and accommodating. The outdoor spa and fireplace were spectacular, the indoor heating stove was fun and romantic. We enjoyed the home so much that we ended-up staying in most of the time, cooking, relaxing, enjoying our time away. This place is not far from grocery and convenience stores. The drive to the home was gorgeous. Make sure that you arrive/check-in during the daytime as roads within the neighboorhood of the home are tight and winding, with limited lighting. The host prepared us with excellent directions well before check-in. Keep in mind that cell-phone service is non-existent (AT&T at least), but the host provides very fast wifi. Personally, we enjoyed not being tied to our phones! The host prepared the home with an abundance of backup supplies, just in-case you forgot to bring something essential.
The cabin was big, warm and well maintained. Everything in the house was labeled and easy to understand. I would advise driving up during the day, as it's off a pretty steep/windy mountain road, and difficult to spot. Lots of good little restaurants that aren't too far away. If you plan on cooking at the house, I'd buy groceries before you get into town.
We had a wonderful woodsy retreat to start off the new year. The cabin is a great combination of rustic, cozy and eclectic with a great woodstove that kept us warm during the cold winter evenings. The bedroom is cozy and the roman shades keep it dark stay dark during the morning so we could sleep in.
The kitchen was a lot of fun to work in with solid old-fashioned appliances that really did the job.
Even though this was during a cool winter month we spent a lot of time outside on the multilevel deck and especially gazing at the tall redwoods from the hot tub which is surrounded by a bamboo enclosure. Fantastic.
Catherine stayed in touch and we got a chance to meet she and Chris as we were leaving.....they are fantastic people and fun to get to know. They great gave us a great recommendation for breakfast place, the River Inn Grill.
Thanks for the good notes! You were great guests, come back anytime.
Much bigger then expected! There is a wonderful living room with big couch (I wondered from the pics, when renting). Very warm! Kitchen amazingly cute! Hot tub a little walk down the steps and across deck. Enjoyed our stay! Sketchy wifi. Not consistent, but made do!!! (website hidden) maps did take us right there. Easy commute from SF!
The house and location were great. Catherine was also very responsive with all of our questions. We would definitely recommend this house.
The Bohemian Groove was the perfect getaway! It is incredibly clean, stylish, and comfortable. The hot tub was warm and relaxing ---- even in the rain. Catherine was very thorough with instructions & quick to reply to any questions during our stay. Hope to stay again soon!
Wonderful, woodsy get-away that is surprisingly close to the Bay Area! The location is among redwoods between the coast (think beaches and cliffs) and the Russian River Valley (think wineries).
Catherine has set up the cabin to be consistent to a time back in the '30s to '50s, well before the amenities most of us are so used to. (the only exceptions are the TV and WiFi...) Four of us celebrated Thanksgiving Day at the cabin and had the opportunity to discover how to cook a feast without large ovens or microwaves, and how to clean up without a dishwasher. Can be done! Loved the little wood stove as well.
Well-appointed, beautifully designed. This cabin looks better than the posting: everything is laid out so well and the decor is tasteful and perfect for the setting. The host Catherine goes out of her way to provide a perfect experience from guests, from being so attentive via messaging to setting up the fireplace before you get there with instructions written on kindling. Rather than having a master list of house rules, there are subtle instructions listed exactly where you need them; TV information on the back of the remote, labels beneath the different types of towels, all for a very easy and frictionless stay. The kitchen is one of the most special places, with an awesome retro fridge and Wedgewood stove. It is fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils too. Would recommend this place to anyone!
Catherine was welcoming and responsive right away. She was very prompt in her replies and everything went smoothly on the business side. The place is very sweet and we felt right at home. The house is well restored and cared for with lovely details of style and comfort. It is very kid proof and the two year old and one year old with us had a great time! Radiant heat floors were perfect for the kids playing on the floor:)
The tub and grill worked great and we enjoyed both very much!
Well stocked kitchen, great towels and robes. Wonderful stove!
The location is in a quiet neighborhood in the hills above Monte Rio town. Close to Jenner beach and much to see and do. Unless you want to just relax on the couch and read one of the many books on the shelves or a play a board game. I could easily have spent another week lounging around! We will come back as soon as we can!
Excelente, ha sido un placer hospedarlos, Catherine es una persona de carácter muy agradable y fue para nosotros una hermosa experiencia el haberlos conocido.

Catherine and her son were really nice people. They were respectful and caring, and left everything in place. She even put the towels in the washing machine! I'm glad that she was my guest, I really connected with them. Hope to see you guys again, you are the best guests ever!
