Mexican couple working in Tourism, we both love living in Riviera Maya
The penthouse is actually nicer than shown on the pictures. If it is a concern for you, note that the bedroom is part of the loft and is not closed off. Very comfortable king size bed with top end sheets and sleep sofa is also very comfortable. 1 1/2 bathroom, 2 a/c, lots of natural light, hamock, good size fridge, new gas stove, etc. Right in the center of it all, there can be street/bar noise at night (rarely past midnight/1am) but earplugs will do the trick. Really, think about it: you can't be in the center of it all AND have the quietness of a dead end street! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
Really nice place with a great view and Rita was very sweet and friendly. The place is much more spacious then it looks on the picture.
We had the most wonderful travel experience with Sandra and Rita at Studio Emily! First of all, the town of Puerto Morelos is so charming and sweet. Close enough for a quick 25 minute drive to Cancun or Playa del Carmen (for more action/nightlife) or about an hour to Tulum. My husband and I stayed here for 8 nights and much preferred this over staying in one of the bigger cities. Puerto Morelos is a cute fishing village with award-winning restaurants, white sand beach, great snorkeling/diving, the 2nd largest reef in the world, yoga classes on the beach, an authentic town square/plaza, and close knit (and safe!) local community of both ex-pats and local Mexicans coexisting wonderfully. In short, the perfect town to stay in as a home-base for exploring the Riviera Maya!
The apartment itself is located right in the center of town, on the 3rd floor with a view of the mangroves on one side and the ocean on the other. It is perfect for 2 adults or a couple with up to one child - has an extremely comfortable queen sized bed and a futon style daybed in the living room.
The building administator, Rita was there to welcome us at 930pm and make sure we were comfortable in the apartment. She also made herself available to us if any questions came up and was super helpful!
If you stay here, we highly recommend eating at John Gray's Kitchen, I Wanna Pizza, Merkadito and El Tio's for delicious lunch tortas. Also, make a trip out to the Jungle Spa for unforgettable massages and/or energy healing by local Mayan women.
I can't say enough good things about the town or this apartment.....thanks for all the memories! :)
Sandra and her assistant Rita were incredible hosts. We were welcomed and treated throughout our stay as family, and they went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable.
The place is beautiful and well decorated; the pictures really don't do it justice. Puerto Morelos is a great lovely sleepy little beach town which is a great place to relax.
The apartment was so lovely, the only problem was that we only had one night there! Puerto Morelos is a lovely little town and the apartment is right in the centre. Very comfortable, good view, clean, GREAT value and convenient. We would highly recommend it and if we ever get to the Yucatan Peninsula we'll definitively stay there again!
