Robb and I are a couple of busy bodies, though we do enjoy some down time with our two dogs, Georgia and Mr. Petee, and with our guests. We juggle the usual stuff: work, house and yard, gym, volunteering, finding fun things to do (mostly in DurHAM), and engaging in a multitude of projects--our newest project is remodeling a 1970 Vega camper, and Robb is building his dream studio in the back yard from salvaged materials.
Robb is originally from the NE via Michigan, but has spent most of his adult life in the sunny south. He is a carpenter by trade, enjoys training for marathons and is an artist, a painter. If you're an artist and would like to bring your easel to Durham, Robb can help you locate some good spots to paint plein air, and would enjoy discussing your work with you.
I grew up in small-town, Virginia, but have also lived in New Orleans, a short stint in Davis, CA, then to Philadelphia, and now back home (almost) to North Carolina. Perhaps due to my southern-ness, I tend to enjoy old-fashioned manners, a little Northern city grit, some New Orleans brassy funk with a splash of Cali open-mindedness. My friends tell me that I'm a good listener, grounded, fair-minded, and a little zany (in a creative way). I like to garden, cook good food, find ways to re-purpose "trash", and make costumes.
I have a slew of artsy friends. One of them asked me to come up with a personal mantra for a project she was working on. My mantra was, "you belong here".
So, come visit us-- you belong here.
