I am an active expat retiree from the US living in Malaysia with my equally retired wife. We have been here 3 years and are actively exploring Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Brunei, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Singapore, and all the states of Malaysia). Besides travel, our interests are theatre (drama), history, outdoors, reading, and exploring new foods (we normally take cooking lessons in every country we visit).
I am a retired civil servant who worked in IT for 30+ years. Liz is a retired professor (public administration/government) from a US university in the state of North Carolina.
In Kuala Lumpur we are active with NGO's, and I recently qualified as a docent at the National Museum.
As guests, we try to stay out of the way, are independent, and love to explore the neighborhood, and local community by walking. In a city we tend to rely on public transit and walking. Here in Malaysia, we do not own a car, but rely on taxi, bus, and the local light rail.
We actively blog about our life as retirees, our travel, and our volunteer activities. If you wish to read our blog, please send an e-mail request. It is public.
