This has been our first experience with Airbnb and it has been fantastic. Grainne and her family helped us in everything we needed. The information about the house was totally correct and in a few days we felt like in our home. Communication with Grainne was great. The house has a garden that was very nice for my sons. The neighborhood was really quiet and peaceful, with a good connection by bus or on foot with Dublin downtown.
We have been staying three weeks and we've been great. The house is very nice, and is very well equipped. Both Graine and her husband were very gracious hosts and always aware that we are not missing anything. We have felt at home. We recommend this property for many reasons: location, equipment, cleaning, neighborhood, and of course by their hosts. Thank you very much for the care received and hope to see you again soon.
Wonderfully centrally located home for our first visit to Ireland. We were able to make day trips to southern locations. We followed other recommendations and bought groceries in Thurles on our way. Had dinner one night at the Horse and Jockey which was wonderful. Don't miss Birrs Castle if you enjoy beautiful walks. Sally was very helpful and we appreciated having a few essentials in the house when we arrived. It felt mor like home than a rental. No frills just a comfortable place to call "home" while we were there. We love Jim O the Mills on Thurs evening! Loved getting a feel for the local culture. Thanks so much to Grainne and Sally.
Grainne and Sally (the caretaker) were great hosts. They supplied us with so much information about the house, the area and beyond all of which was both necessary and useful. The house itself was fantastic - warm, welcoming and with everything we needed even some food supplies. We stocked up on food in Thurles before we got to the cottages as advised by other reviewers. It's location was rural which was what we wanted and central for driving to Cork/Blarney, Waterford and Limerack. Had a great meal at the Horse and Jockey pub in the town of the same name and great drinks at The Arch in Thurles. We really enjoyed our Winter stay and thought it would be a lovely place in Summer sitting outside at the table and chairs.
A wonderful cottage in rural Ireland/Tipperary that has all you need for a great stay. Location is a good base to travel in the area. The facilities and beds/bedding very nice. Plenty of room for larger groups or families with children. When we were there was no TV or WiFi which didn't bother us but is important to know if you rely on that stuff. I didn't meet Grainne but contact with her was excellent and the local caretaker Sally was very nice. This is an excellent choice if there are a few of you and your touring the area. Would also recommend to friends/family who want to get away from it and get a real rural Irish experience rather than touristy hotels and towns etc. Highly recommended.
We had wonderful time! The hosts are so friendly and lovely, helped us in everything ! We are so thankful and surprised that we recommend everybody to rent this house. Very good communicated, really close to a lot of supermarkets, restaurants, gym, beautiful botanic gardens, quiet and friendly neighborhood. All the rooms are very ample and comfortable. Everything was simply perfect !
Will never forget this experience.
I would love to spend many months living in this wonderful cottage! We only stayed one night but Grainne was so welcoming and accommodating, even leaving us some items for breakfast.
The bed was so comfortable and I had the best night's sleep there. I loved the way the entire place was decorated, it feels very bright sunny and comfortable.
I really can't say enough good things about this place or our host.
Pro-tip: It is about 30 minutes or so from Cashel, which had a decent grocery store. I didn't see any others between there and here so if you are cooking in (which is great), I'd be sure to find a grocery store before you get into Upperchurch.
A nice, spacious house close to both the city (walking distance but public transport right around the corner) and the airport. Grainne was a fantastic host, providing great recommendations for local restaurants/pubs and letting us know everything about the house. Would recommend to everyone coming to Dublin . Thanks again Grainne!
Had a lovely stay in the turf burning cottage and can definitely recommend it if you are looking for a quaint cottage stay. There is plenty of space and the cottage has all mod cons while still retaining an authenic feel. The cottage was clean and tidy and had everything I think a family might need for a relaxing holiday.
I wanted to visit the Ireland that the people on the tour bus do not see. I found "the turf burning cottage" that peeked my interest. My planning began months befors the actule trip would begin. Grainne was so helpful at every step along the way. I don't do computers well and when the AIRBNB web site defeated me Grainne walked me through the difficult parts. Sshe sent me information about the area and let the town folk know we were comming. Upperchurch is a very small village. If you want to get away from the city this is the place to be. The cottage was very laarge and comfortalbe. My travel compains changed several time during the planning process and three months before I was to go I got cancer. So my trip began the day after I completed radiation therpy. Grainne kept in touch every monthe prior to our trip. It ended up there were three of us at the cottage. We had way too much room. I would not hesitate to have as many as 8 people staying at the cottage. More if you have children. I knew the cottage was in the country but I did not know it was a mile up a one lane read with headges on both sides. That really added to the Ireland experience. We did day trips to Cliffs of Hoher, Waterford, Cork, Rock of Cachel and many other places. It was great to come "home" every night. We ate most of our meals at the cottage. There were some staples there, we bought potatos, milk and eggs. Con Ryan spent a day with us showing us around the area and sharing his stories. And your visit would not be complete without going to 'Jim O'the Pub" on Thursday night. You will love every minute of the evening, but bring your sining voice.
Very friendly, easy going and clean, they were a very nice presence to have around and interesting to talk to. We highly recommend them to other hosts and they always welcome back!
Great guests, lovely couple. Good communication from the begining, nice, quiet and tidy. Definitely, they are everything you want in an airbnb guest.
Grainne was very fun to deal with! She ended up not being able to visit but her funny and open nature made all the booking process more enjoyable and it would have been great to have her company. She and her family shall be welcome in the future!
Grainne is an excellent host & a pleasure to interact with. Recommended!
