Emma was a fantastic host. She was welcoming, helpful, and very understanding during our stay. The apartment itself is great, very homely with a peaceful patio out back. Wanted to book the room for more time but unfortunately already booked - i.e. I would have no hesitations about staying here again or recommending it to friends.
Great place. Clean and cool on hot days. Emma was wonderful!
Thanks. I'm looking forward to your return!
Our host was extremely welcoming. She left us some orange juice and milk, and made the whole experience better. The place is actually a little nicer than the pictures make out. Lots of room and a great experience over all.
Emma was a wonderful host, very warm and welcoming. I am very familiar with New York and have been there many times but this is the first time i take a chance and rent an apartment in an area that I am not familiar with. The apartment is very neat and spotless, I am pretty sure it's cleaner than most of the hotel room in New York. Emma is there all the time to help if you need anything and pays a very great deal of attention to the place. I would definitely recommend such a place to anyone. Thank you Emma.
Thank you again for coming.
Overall, we are fairly satisfied with the house
1. The house is clean. The neighbourhood is quiet.
2. We can find all furnitures we need in this house
3. There are subway stations close to the house
Emma was very friendly and responsive. Her apt easily accomodated 3 of us for the weekend and was very clean and well organized. We greatly appreciate her willingness to accommodate a slightly later check-in than we had planned for. It was in a great location.
Emma was great at welcoming us and providing advice/tips on getting around the city since we were first time visitors. The apartment looks much better in person than the pictures in the listing as you cannot really see just how spacious and nice looking the apartment is until you arrive. Emma showed us around the apartment and made herself available if needed, but also gave us as much privacy as we preferred which was nice. We had 3 little children in tow with us and the apartment was great for them.
The apartment is ideal for using the subway to get around the city as there are 2 subway stations within 1/2 mile of the apartment. We drove a vehicle to the apartment and used the subway after that; we got lucky and found parking right in front of the apartment (which is free), but be warned street cleaning comes through frequently which requires you to be on alert to move your vehicle if needed.
Immediately down the street in front of the apartment is Riverbank State Park which I used to run on and I passed by tons of benches, shade, and kids playgrounds.
The only improvement I would suggest is with the WIFI at the apartment, it was a very weak connection throughout our stay.
Thanks again, Emma!
Emma was a great host; courteous, accommodating and friendly. The apartment itself is very comfortable, with a nice back patio. It is conveniently located close to the 145 st subway stations for the 1 and the A/C/E trains, which makes it easy to get to lower Manhattan as well as Brooklyn. The neighborhood is safe, and there is a nice walking area half a block away on riverside drive. I would definitely consider staying here again during my next NYC visit.
Emma's apartment was marvelous! I had an early flight and she was able to accommodate my family & I on a short notice. Besides the fact that she left us food + juices, we were able to personally meet her so that's another plus to Sugar Hill Rest Stop! I've advised Emma that on my next trip to New York, my family & I will be staying at her apartment! Thanks for all of your help again Emma, till next time.
Consider this your home away from home,
Emma was a superbly gracious host! We had an early flight into the city, but she accommodated an early check-in without our even having to ask. She left us milk, juice, english muffins, and raspberry preserves for breakfast. Emma was not available to greet us when we checked in, but she had a very nice friend welcome us and give us the tour. When she came home just a short time later, she introduced herself and gave us a personal welcome. She checked in on us daily by text message to make sure we were okay--just the right balance of attention and privacy, especially since she lives right upstairs!
The apartment is exactly as it appears in the photos, and is very very clean. It was perfect for our weekend stay. I wish we'd stayed longer so that we could have enjoyed the back yard and patio. Although we didn't make any meals during our stay since we were running around so much, there were both large and small groceries within a few steps of the apartment where we could have shopped. In fact, you're likely to find everything you need around the corner on Broadway, from batteries and toothpaste at the Rite Aid to True Religion jeans at the Blue Jeans store and delicious drip coffees and espressos at the quaint Chipped Cup coffee shop.
I would definitely stay at Sugar Hill Rest Stop again! Thanks, Emma!
Thank you and I'll take your advise. Even though it's on the house rules sheet I'll be more explicit.
