I stayed at the Winterhouse Inn for the month of March, my son joined me for 1 week, and when he left my sister arrived. Our hosts Merek and Jimmy are warm, wonderful ,easy going guys. Who made us feel as though we were family. It worked out perfectly for everyone.
Thanks so much to both of you, for sharing your home with us!
We look forward to visiting again soon!
Connie, Warren and Gail.
Nice folks. They had a bottle of chilled white wine, chips, homemade salsa and guacamole waiting for us. We enjoyed both on their wonderful patio, which is private and has the feel of the jungle.
The location was very convenient to walk or take a bus to the Malacon and El Centro area. The room was clean, and the bed quite comfortable. The only surprise was that the bath facilities were shared. Not a big deal, as we were the only guests at the time.
Jimmy was very nice to take us to the central bus site to catch a bus to La Cruz.
My experience for my month long stay was a good one. The area is typical from what I understand for the old Mexico feel - roosters crowing at all hours and a lot of dogs loose in the hood. The location is nestled in and yet close enough or far enough away from the touristy areas depending on how you look at it. I experienced some very good off the beaten track restaurants that are reasonably priced compared to the Malecon area. I enjoyed all of it, though I recommend ear plugs because of the chickens & dogs barking; I don't leave home without them!
I loved the house, the kitchen, yard & my room. The bed was just right for me even though my back is very bad and the bedroom is spacious with ample furnishings. My hosts were very helpful in getting me & my dog settled and acclimatized to the area & local amenities. I met some nice people in the area and via house guests. Living with everyone was pretty easy! Thanks Jimmy & Merek, best wishes.
Merek and Jimmy were really good to us. We had a wonderful time. We would definitely recommend a stay in their house. Very clean and centrally located.
I would highly recommend spending time at the Winterhouse Inn. The house is beautiful, the rooms are very nice. I really enjoyed my stay; you have your own private room that you have keys to and you have keys to the front door so you can come and go as you please. Merek is a wonderful host. My mother and I spent four nights at the Winterhouse and would have been happy to stay more. Merek was able to point us towards things we wanted to do and even gave us a lift to help us get to our next destination. Thank you for the great vacation!
I would recommend this location and the accommodations to any rugged and frugal traveller. Merek was an amazing host who picked me up and dropped me off at the airport which was great. For the value, I wouldn't hesitate to stay with them again!
Loved being tucked into a very antic neighborhood in Puerto Vallarta on our way further north. Although we only stayed for one night, the stay with Merek was very pleasant. The room was spacious and clean, and e house beautiful. Thanks for e hospitality!
We were looking at the last minute for a place to stay in Puerto Vallarta right before the holidays (we were to fly in on Dec. 20), so we turned to airbnb to look for a place. We noticed The Winterhouse and were intrigued - price was good, it was in PV, but away from the big, touristy hotels.
In short, we were completely delighted by both the place and our hosts, Jimmy & Merek, as well as the three dogs. Our room was spacious and comfortable (hard not to like a king-size bed - and the good mattress). The neighborhood, Las Canoas, is right along the Rio Cuale and it was great to have that bit of nature right nearby. Every morning we took our coffee to the front veranda upstairs which overlooks the street. I liked hanging out there, reading, drinking coffee, observing the neighbors. Las Canoas is one of the real (i.e., very authentic) 'hoods and gives you a real taste of local life. Neighbors are friendly and even though the 'hood is fairly dark at night, I felt completely safe, people often said hello, etc.
If you want to be more often the tourist-beaten track then take my recommendation to stay at Winterhouse. It's about a fifteen minute walk down to the beach and the Malecon. Best of all, Winterhouse is located in PV's Old Town - cobbled streets galore - jsut watch your step on the up & down sidewalks. Winterhouse is a delight.
A very considerate guest, he even brought in some delivered packages for us! We highly recommend Jimmy and would welcome him back any time.
Couldn't have asked for a better guest - it's people like this that warm my heart and make it hard for others to live up to my new expectations :)
** TOP NOTCH GUEST!! **
Left the place spotless and was a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended. Looking forward to another stay with us any time.
Great guest ! Easy going and considerate. Welcome Jimmy into your home or rental.
