The room was very good and Gavin answer me quickly.
Room and bathroom were nice and tidy. Kitchens for selfcatering were clean too. Hosts were very helpful and pleasant. Talking with the language students from differnt countries was
interessting. If you speak to Gavin you can having lunch and dinner together with the students for a few Euros extra.
The area is a 2.5km walk to the town centre. The Place can be reached with the 205 bus line from Kent Station in direction of the CIT which goes every 15 Minutes. Car parks are available right in front of the house the park surounding the houses is very well kept.
I liked the people I met and and the price is fair too. Access to the internet via BROOKFIELD.
When I arrived I was met by .gavin and shown my room, which was clean and comfortable. The set up was warm and friendly and I enjoyed talking to the students who were there to learn English! I had a free breakfast every morning and occasionally joined the group for dinner and all in all had a great time for the week I was there!
great location, very comfortable and clean - leisure centre close by was a great bonus. gavin was very accommodating and helpful.
It's the classic student room, inside a lodging. The place is 20ish minutes walking from the centre, otherwise you have the bus stop in front of the lodge.
Our toilet was not in the room, you have to go out and, even thought it's private, it's close to the entrance(always open) and in front of the stairs which goes to the second floor. Because it's a student accommodation it's possible to have various noise around (during the night people were knocking to the near door and someone played the guitar).
I booked my room because I was coming into Cork for a conference. I got there earlier than expected but they gave me the keys and let me check-in.
Pro's: The location was great, the rec center on the property was awesome with a really nice pool and an outdoor hot tub overlooking part of UCC campus.
Con's: Once I got in and found my room I realized I had no towel and could find none in the shared bathroom for the floor. There was also no toilet paper in sight in the bathroom - this happened several times during my 3 night stay.
It wasn't until that evening that I could get in touch with Gavin to get a towel. Then I discovered the shared shower had no hot water. I took a cold shower and opted to shower after swimming in the rec center for the rest of my stay.
Overall, It worked for what I needed but it was a lot more like a hostel than a B&B.
Great experience ! You have to share the appartment with other people, but it's really good to practice your english ! The bedroom was very good.
The neighborhood is a holiday village with nice families everywhere and a great sense of security. It is quiet, clean, and peaceful. I would say to walk to the city center is a bit far; but the bus 205 runs every 15 minutes and costs 2 euros per way. That takes ten minutes to the city center. There is also a restaurant/store in the village with good food and a supermarket (tesco) ten minutes away by foot. One can do laundry for 5 euros wash and dry; a great deal.
We met Gavin and he was a real nice guy and VERY busy. Our room was right near the kitchen where half of the language students eat. We chose to be a part of the language school by conversing with the students. We really loved getting to know them for the few days we were there. It was a very positive experience for us. One of our highlights was walking through the college right next door called UCC. It is so beautiful!! We also went with the students to The Cobh (The Cover) and went to the Titanic Tour which was really interesting. And then we went with the students to the Blarney Castle. What fun we had! I would go back!
We enjoyed our stay a lot. The place was clean, cozy and pleasant to stay in and the the people were very nice and helpful. It's a little bit of a long walk to and from the city, but the bus service is easy to use and goes right into the center.
