I live in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England - a small fishing village, popular tourist destination and setting for the book Dracula by Bram Stoker.
I own and run a small boutique hotel called La Rosa which is where Lewis Carroll stayed in Whitby.

The stay in the barn was absolutely lovely. It is definitely a very unique and interesting place, and for one night we felt like artists living with a circus. We stayed at Swallow Barn before it was fully finished and so we didn't get the full experience but we would love to come back in summer. It is currently (Feb 2012) not really suited to stays in the winter months. The barn will take your mind off the real world for a bit, because the interior design, pieces of furniture and decoration are so very special and nice and everything tells it own little story. The shrine next to the bed is amazing. Finding it was a little difficult as we did not have a good map, in the end we used our I-Phone, after we drove around in circles a bit... It is certainly off the beaten track, but once you see the gate with the little rose you're there. The landscape around is absolutely breathtaking and the place is just as described. For a unique experience, the price is good, and for everyone that likes nature and charming weirdness should spend some time in Swallow barn in beautiful Yorkshire.
Amanda is like the perfect guest. And that’s not because she runs a boutique hotel in England. She treated my home as if it were her own. I would not hesitate for a second letting her and her companion(s) into my apartment again.
