My photo shows me wearing a classic Russian "Kasavarotka" which is part of my costume for a tour I give on Russian Alaska at the nearby Anchorage Museum. The character I portray is Andrei Kashaverov, a real person who lived in Alaska in the 19th century and was present when Alaska was transferred from Russian to American jurisdiction. My grandfather emigrated to the USA from Lithuania, which was part of Russia at the time (1903), so I enjoyed volunteering for the role. The Anchorage Museum is a short walk from my condo.

I retired from the Navy in 1986, then went to seminary on the GI Bill. I served as a parish pastor for 12 years in Philadelphia, San Francisco, and (lastly) Valdez, AK. While there, I just fell in love with Alaska and moved to Anchorage in 2014, bought a condo downtown and have been enjoying life in the "big" city ever since. I am active in the 35+ Singles Dance Club which meets every Saturday night, and a hiking group that treks every Monday and Thursday evening.

I am connected with the Human Awareness Institute and recently completed the HAI Level 2 training in California.

I work as a substitute teacher in the Anchorage School District.

I love to travel and been to lots of exotic places, when I was in the Navy, leading Church tours, and flying Space-A with the Air Force. Last year, my daughter was invited so speak at a conference in Guangzhou, China and asked me to accompany her. I've been to all 50 states except 2, Oklahoma and Kentucky.

I've been an Airbnb host for almost a full year now, and have very much enjoyed meeting people from around the country and around the world.
