My experience at Catherine home was great, i like the fact we were close everything you needed essentially. She was also helpful in getting me more informed about everything around her home and how to get around. I would totally recommend her place to anyone visiting Malta.
Catherine is a wonderful person and my stay in Malta was just great!
The apartment is very cleaned, situated in a very central point: you are 10 mins by foot from the promenade, where you can take a coffee in front of the sea. Connections to/from Valletta are frequent, from the promenade you can take the ferries to Valletta or Gozo and Comino. There are a lot of stores nearby, pastizzerijas, bars, clubs and restaurants, some minutes walk to Sliema.
The apartment is in a very silent part of Gzira, easy to reach and safe.
Catherine is a special host: she takes care of her guests, and her advices about the island and things to do during your stay are very helpful.
She prepared the traditional Maltese easter cake, the figolla, and gave one to me; she was so lovely that I felt like at home, like I was part of the family!
I fell in love with Malta and its people: the land is very beautiful, all the places I visited are food for the eyes and soul.
I admired beautiful places and had the opportunity to meet a great person.
Thank you Catherine, I will come back to Malta and to your house very soon!
I enjoyed staying at Catherine's place, it is very central - close to Sliema and the waterfront in Il Gzira. The place its very good located to the airport and very clean and tidy. Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to meet Catherine as she had to leave Malta during my stay but she organized to collect me at the airport by her brother and his wife. They really care of me all the time and I felt really at home, I really look to comeback in the future. Its my best experience using airbnb, I really recommend Catherine's place if you decide to visit Malta. Thanks
Catherine's apartment was just as she describes it, but especially clean and well located. The apartment is matched in quality by it's wonderful host. Catherine was a wonderful person to stay with, and answered endless questions for me about Malta, the buses, and finding places. Since I am a student and will be staying in the area quite a long time, Catherine was able to help me adjust and find my way around right after I came in from the airport. The apartment is very close to the university, and even closer to the track and pool, with a bus stop right in front of it. Breakfast is delicious, and I was very sad to leave. I will definitely save this for future reference -- and Catherine's number if I ever need help while in Malta!
This apartment was precisely as advertised. Ideal for low-key travelers who are ok with being two or three blocks away from the waterfront instead of being in some expensive, glitzy hotel. Being close to public transportation allowed us to visit Valletta, San Ġiljan, Paceville, Mdina, Tarxien, and more; proximity to the Sliema ferries means we also could easily have gone to see Gozo and Comino if we had had more time. Catherine is a delight; you can expect a warm welcome from a wonderful woman who makes you feel right at home without ever being intrusive. We generally woke up after she had left for work, and the simple but carefully prepared breakfast she left for us went a long way to make us feel welcome.
Backpackers and DIYers will be happy to know that Catherine supplies towels for you and allows you to use the kitchen if you want to cook for yourself, though eating out in Malta is so inexpensive that we found ourselves cooking less than usual.
Be aware that the bedroom itself is essentially just the bed. I have very little needs in terms of accommodation, but more demanding visitors may feel disappointed if they come in with inaccurate expectations.
I enjoyed staying at Catherines place, it is very central - close to Sliema and the waterfront in Il Gzira. There is a bus stop 1 minute away for airport bus etc. I felt very much at home - first night I had problems - though to find the right streetdoor, did not notice the doornumber and felt bad to have to wake Catherine up, but I felt she meant that it was okay - she is a very nice person and host.
We stayed for 7 nights at this apartment & would highly recommend it to anyone! Catherine was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble for her. She was very helpful with her knowledge of Malta & was able to give us good advice on where to go.The apartment is very clean & has plenty of storage in the bedroom for your clothes.
The apartment is convieniently located for the buses & we would recommend a weekly bus ticket is purchased as it works out more economical to take yourselves, by bus, over the Island ,than to get on the red hop on, hop off sight seeing bus!
Thank you Catherine & David for your hospitality, we would like to return one day xx
Very pleasant stay if you like a personal atmosphere and a good conversation. I welcome already at the airport when Catherine picked me up, and for 9 nights I was a welcomed guest. Catherine know a lot of Malta, and apartment is ideal if you like to stay away from nightlife, but still central and close to transportation. A walk down to main road is only 3 - 4 minutes.
If I go to Malta again I will be staying at Catherines place!
cathrine is a very very very veeeery warmly and great person.
she fetched me from the airport and showed me gzira, sliema and st julians. she prepared me breakfast in the morning and i felt like home.
i slept in the room with two small beds next to the kitchen.
it was no problem at all to use the pots and the pan for cooking my meal.
it was a nice trip and if i come back to malta i would love to stay in catherins house again. thanks a lot xoxo
Catherine is such a warm hearted, sincere lady and she's the best host you could ever ask for. Stayed with her for 6 nights and from the very second I met her at the airport I was made feel very welcomed and at home. Sliema is within walking distance from her apartment and there's a bus stop right outside. Very conveniently located. Breakfast was delicious. Highly highly recommended. Will definitely stay with her again if I'm in Malta again.
My friends and I stayed with Catherine in Malta and had a wonderful experience. She is kind and easygoing, with a gift for hosting and making people feel at ease in her home country. We instantly bonded with her and enjoyed our time in Malta immensely because of our airbnb experience. She was nice enough to suggest an authentic Maltese restaurant and a fun bar in the neighborhood. Catherine trusted us in her home, and that meant alot! We call her Catherine the Great, because she really is :)
I stayed with Catherine during my vacation in Malta April 2012 and I was totally conquered by her open and warm personality. Which, combined with generous and caring attitude, everyday wisdom and broad life experiences, made her a great host, an interesting companion and an amazing friend.
I have spend 7 weeks with Catherine, it was my first time in Malta and it was great ! Catherine is very kind attentive and generous, she taken time to take care of me and show me her country furthermore she is an exellente cook.
Her flat is comfortable and well placed ( without car we can move easily), the flat is always clean and we miss nothing. there is a computer in the bedroom it's pratical.
If i have to return in Malta, i'm sure to return at her home.
I have known Catherine for 20 years, and she is a very kind, honest and reliable person. She makes a good host, besides her good qualities, her property is situated absolutely central and in a walking distance to everything.
We enjoyed our stay in Malta and really liked this apartment, it was so central and close to everything. The bus stop in the front of the apartment was really handy, making it easy to get around. Catherine is an excellent host, and is genuinely concerned about her guests.
We will definetly stay there again and highly recommend this apartment!
