Mark and his place is great. This is our second time visiting Albany and this time we brought friends. The ton is awesome, a perfect 2 day trip from Chicago. Floating/kayaking the river is really fun and the locals are friendly. Cute bars as well. Everything is within a block from the loft. Cant wait to come back!
The host Mark was great and accommodating. The town is the standard small Wisconsin town. We were going to the New Glaurus festival which is very close to Albany Wi.
This place was neat! We really enjoyed it! I wish we had more time to explore the area. We'd recommend this place to anyone- it was a unique experience! There are a lot of things to do in the area- we decided to go up to House on the Rock and also the town of New Glarus. The town of Albany was cute and quaint. Locals were friendly- wish we had taken our bathing suits- there is a place that rents out tubes to take a ride down the river that looked fun too.
The loft was exactly as described and the reviews are spot on. Fun space. The locals were nice and helpful. Great biking and hiking nearby.
This is a spacious and fully functional get-away place. Our two labs were right at home, and the townspeople are very friendly but not nosy. The kitchen is truly well stocked with plates, cups, glasses etc and everything for cooking, too. BIG bathroom!
Two things to know: First, there is NO AT&T cell service, so we were without phone service the entire time we were there. I'm not sure what we would have done in case of a midnight emergency. Once the taverns close, it's pretty quiet. Second, we expected a "loft" to be above street level. It's not, and privacy can be a issue. We just hung blankets (there are plenty) over the doors at the front end. But don't get the wrong impression; this is a great place, and our new HQ for visiting the grandkids in Brodhead. We'll be back. Often. Thanks, Mark.
Biker heaven! We loved the space. The townsfolk were very friendly. Our dogs loved the bike path. The roads were ideal for motorcycles during the day. Mark has put a lot of thought into the space. We would love to come back with friends. There was plenty of cookware and dishes to serve all the meals there. We enjoyed New Glarus town and brewery.
The place is every bit as great as advertised -- light, airy, full of space, and fantastically decorated. We would absolutely stay here again.
Great decor and near New Glarus - the space is well stocked and good for a group. As others have said, this is not a touristy town - there are no shops or convenience stores in walking distance, many of the storefronts were shuttered when we visited, and while Mark's place has free wifi, there is little to no cell phone coverage in the region.
Exceptional. Clever remodel of an old small-town hardware store. From the 1950's chest freezer renovated to function as a kitchen island to the classic Whirlpool and Hardware signs that light up on the wall, this place is a "man cave" like no other. Love love love. Kitchen is spacious and perfect for preparing meals for one or many including oversize dishwasher to help with clean-up. Bed is super comfy, wifi signal very strong and apartment style washer/dryer within the loft is very handy. Note: AT&T has not yet discovered Albany, WI, so their cell service is non-existent -- phone will show "no service"...won't even pretend it's trying by faking you out with one bar! Loft has top-notch wifi though - set up a (website hidden) account and you're good to go with internet-based phone service during your stay.
Thank you very much - you did an exceptional job remodeling this space!
This apt is spacious, well lit, and the kitchen is well equipped.
Don't hesitate to have Mark as a guest! Kind and respectful :)
Mark stayed with us on his way back from Asheville where he had delivered a lost cat, so right off the bat we knew he'd be a good guy! We very much enjoyed having him stay with us. He was very nice and courteous and a really fascinating guy! Glad we had the chance to host him and would definitely recommend him as a guest to anyone.
