What a wonderful weekend! This was our first experience with Airbnb and so naturally we were a little unsure of what to expect. Thankfully we could not have been happier with the Little Red House and our superb host, Mona!
The house was exactly as listed; it really was the perfect getaway from the city. We loved the peace and quiet and the star-filled night sky was truly spectacular!
In addition to the perfect setting, Mona went above and beyond to take care of us, from the fresh eggs on our arrival to the camp fire she built for us on both Friday and Saturday evening. I text her a couple of times on Saturday to ask for restaurant recommendations and she was quick to respond, which was much appreciated.
We picked a wonderful weekend to stay on the Eastern Shore. The weather was amazing and we spent much of our time on the beautiful Assateague beach. Mona's house is only about 40 minutes from Chincoteague Island and the drive is rural and scenic.
Having the Little Red House as our "base" was great and the ideal end to our day at the beach on Saturday was the hot outdoor shower under the stars! I honestly couldn't think of a more perfect way to conclude the day :)
Thank you SO much for making our weekend memorable. What a gem of a find!
Wonderful! Had fresh flowers and eggs waiting for us! Set up the grill and offered to make us a fire pit! Such a great place
This was a great find for a weekend away for my fiance and me! Mona left fresh eggs on the table, the grill was ready to go with plenty of gas, and Mona was in frequent contact to make sure that we had everything we needed. The location was awesome- it was remote enough to get some quality peace and quiet, but close enough to Assateague/Chincoteague to make for a perfect day trip. This was an awesome place for star gazing- I haven't seen that many stars or the Milky Way in years!
Mona is a wonderful host and makes you feel welcome at all times. I am grateful that she shared the Little Red House. It is quaint and airy and has everything you need. It is quiet and off the beaten path but still close enough to nice places like Onancock or Chincoteague Island.
Mona's Cottage is very pleasant and a true gem off the beaten path. we had a great time and it was a perfect base to see the surrounding areas.
Very tranquil and a great place to get off the grid. Highly Recommended!
Need a quiet and peaceful place to stay ? A charming little house ? Don't hesitate! If you add few extra tips from your hosts you'll be all set for a wonderful time :)... Enjoylife!
The house was perfect. We enjoyed a lot our stay. Very relaxing and calm.
We had a wonderful stay at the Little Red House. The house is small but feels open and airy. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the outdoor shower. The location is great for peace and quiet and wildlife watching. We enjoyed sitting outside, relaxing, and grilling each evening.
Mona was very thoughtful and provided a little bike and children's movies for our 2 year old daughter. She also had some great recommendations for things to do in the area.
The house was amazing! It was perfect for a short weekend away, and the hosts couldn't have been better. The farm fresh eggs were a nice little surprise as well.
Mona's little red house is very intimate, quiet, everything we needed was where we needed it. She came over with eggs, much appreciated and delicious. The outdoor shower was a big hit with Don and I. We had come from 5 days in DC which were busy, lots to see and lots of walking, and very hot. Mona's place was a welcome respite and a good place to spend the second half of our vacation. The bed was comfortable, the AC worked well, we had some very hot days and that was appreciated. At first didn't see a stove but discovered a hot plate which did the trick. It's in a beautiful area with a cornfield in front, deer in the fields, stars and moonlight. Mona was very welcoming, a great host. Lots to do in and around, an easy drive to Chincoteague too.
The Little Red House is a great place to stay and I highly recommend it. I stayed there recently and found it so peaceful and relaxing. The bed is comfortable, the house offers everything you need, and Mona will make sure you are comfortable. The Little Red House is surround by nature, close to the water and a few minutes from the wonderful town of Onancock. Whether your coming for the weekend or staying for a week you will enjoy your stay.
we have stayed several times in the little red house; it has a beautiful view across a large field. The house is small but everything is there-kitchen, bath, comfortable bed. It is clean and well appointed. You are close to the water and it would be ideal if you have kayaks. You could put in at a little cove 100 feet from the house.
I can't think of a better way to experience the spectacular natural beauty and serenity of the eastern shore of Virginia then by staying in the Little Red House! Nestled in this charming seaside town, It is a little jewel resting amidst woods and fields near beautiful Folly Creek. It is the perfect oasis for a getaway whether to explore the pristine barrier islands (10 minute boat ride away), fish, visit the quaint bayside town of Onancock, or just lie in the hammock and RELAX! I have stayed there and it felt like my own private Shangri-La, so lovely! Mona is an eastern shore native and her red house reflects her personality- artistic, FUN!, sunny, inviting, warm, cozy, laid back and beautiful. I have known Mona for years and she is the perfect person to host you in what will be an unforgettable getaway to the rare unspoiled beauty of the eastern shore. Come and ENJOY!!
If you have the chance to stay here, take it! This is the cutest, coziest, comfiest, and cleanest little cottage! It’s got everything you need AND Mona is an incredibly friendly host. Being tucked away in the countryside and out of earshot of road noise, the privacy and quiet was reason enough to stay. The huge sky and the stars were an added bonus. And it is surprisingly convenient to all we wanted to explore on the Eastern Shore. Definitely a place we’ll come back to.
