I was born in New York City and lived for many years in San Francisco. I am now back on the East Coast across the Hudson from Manhattan in New Jersey. I enjoy theatre, play tournament bridge, like reading and enjoy the out of doors.
It is very hard to take a person wearing short shorts and a T-shirt seriously when they say they are sensitive to the cold. Rude was telling her to put on more clothes the second time she blew the circuits by keeping the space heater on for hours and then trying to use kitchen appliances. I know that I take a coat with me to the movies no matter the weather because I do get cold. Since I scrubbed down the bathroom the day Andrea arrived her tale is hard to believe. As to dishes, she did not have the courtesy to put her used dishes in the dishwasher. I regret her 'discomfort' which could certainly been mitigated by communication and/or more clothes!
I know that the room was very clean when Maria and Paola arrived. The kitchen was being prepped for electrical work and so things were moved about the house and it was certainly cluttered. Had Maria made a decision to stay here prior to 10 a.m. the morning of her arrival, rather than spend almost two weeks haggling about the price, the cleaning fees and the parking she might have been in a better frame of mind to accept a clean room, fresh sheets and towels, etc. at the advertised price. I guess it was hard for Maria to understand why I might be upset when AirBnB called early on that Saturday morning at Maria's request because she had not had a response to her reservation submitted after midnight the night before. That reservation was then canceled and not reinstated until after 10 a.m. on Saturday. I think this kind of high maintenance pre-check in behavior does not create a warm and fuzzy greeting. I will not be so gracious as to accept such a late notice reservation in future.
