I am happy I chose to stay in Alex's apartment. He is so helpful and nice. The room is really comfortable and I had a quite environment to have a good rest. Also , this area is so convenience for a traveller. :) Thanks a lot , Alex:)
Alex is a responsible host. I didn't see him a lot but he gave detailed instructions on my arrival day to make sure everything goes smoothly. He even helped me remove the A/C in the room to reduce noises from outside. The apartment is very well located, and is true to the pictures. You are going to share the washroom and kitchen with the host. Essentially the apartment gives you a real touch of college dorm again and Alex has a great collection of books in the room!
Fantastic neighborhood. Alex was a warm and inviting host. I would stay here again.
I spent 2 days at Alex’s place.
The apartment is really well located, near the subway station, very close to Columbia University, 20 min by tube from Columbus Circle.
I didn’t see Alex very much but he welcomed me with clean towels and wi-fi password and he was very privacy respectfully.
You can see my previous review of the same listing and about the host himself.
Needless to say, I was very happy to be offered a few more night's stay at Alex's place.
As I was doing touristy-type things, the easy access to the public transit was important. In addtion, I had mostly good luck with catching the bus too.
At the same time, I got to enjoy the surroundings more and in particular found good food around the corner. I am rather hooked on toasted bagel with cream cheese spread:-)
I highly recommend Alex's room!
This was a very straightforward listing. I didn't see Alex much after I checked in but I felt completely comfortable the entire time I was there. The layout of the place has the room, bathroom, and kitchen accessible immediately after entering the front door so you never have to even enter the space of the other roommate or living room. It feels like you're in a hotel... but a lot cheaper one. The neighborhood was safe, I'm a 25 y.o girl, and I came home at all times of night with zero difficulties or feelings of being unsafe. If this is a good location for your needs, I highly suggest this place.
Alex is a great host.
He was very accommodating and made sure that I was comfortable. The room is of a good size and certainly more than enough for me and my luggage. Location is perfect. Only a short walk through the University to get to A train. Alex also recommended good places nearby to eat.
When my next host cancelled on me on a short notice, Alex helped me out and I could avoid a total disaster! Thanks Alex!
I will be staying at his place again, without hesitation.
* On a side note, my phone roaming caused a bit of an issue. Anyone using phones from overseas on roaming service should be wise to test and ensure that text messages can be exchanged BOTH WAYS successfully before relying on it as the main communication tool in the US.
Alex is a warm and welcoming host and he went out of his way to help me find a restaurant I needed to locate. The room is comfortable and generous sized and the bed is very comfortable. It is a college student apartment so the "casual" tidiness of the bathroom may be off-putting to some. The location is really great, a casual ten minute walk down Amsterdam Av to 116th street, west across the Columbia U campus to the number 1 Metro stop on Broadway. Also a two block walk to the M60 bus stop from and to LaGuardia Airport. Found a great breakfast/brunch place : Community Restaurant, just south of 113th St on Broadway.
All in all a great stay and a really good deal.
Alex was a great host. He have me advice on affordable transportation, had clean sheets, a clean towel, keys, and wifi password waiting for me when I arrived. We didn't get to see much of one another during my visit due to my tight weekend work schedule, but he was super friendly and very accommodating. I would stay with him again!
Host: Alex is a great host! He had been very responsive to my questions and inquiries before I arrived and throughout my stay. He was also very fast at getting back to me, and I felt really appreciative of that. My first experience with Airbnb has been very positive because of Alex (and his place)!
Listing: The location is literally next to Columbia University, which is AWESOME! I felt so safe to even walk around by myself at 2 am because it is close to a great school, thus it is a safe area. Since it is so close to the student area, you get access to 24-hour supermarket and 24-hour sandwich/deli places, all within short walking distance! There are also two subway entrances and a few bus stops close-by. The private room is a decent size, with enough shelf and desk space to put my stuff. The shared bathroom has bright lights and comfortable hot shower! This is definitely a place I will want to stay at again the next time I visit New York!
Thanks, Alex, for hosting me!
A pleasant man , you should host him.
