We chose Casa Kikilia because we wanted to find a relaxing vacation away from tourist-filled resorts with guaranteed warm and sunny weather. And it was the perfect choice. The home was as-described and was perfect for five of us (including our nine-year-old granddaughter. She spent hours in the pool. The truly beautiful beach stretched for miles, was sandy and easy walking. And it was secluded. We hardly saw another person on the beach. Sunrises and sunsets were magnificent. The gated Villa Cumana community felt completely safe throughout our visit. While secluded, we were an easy drive to Puerto Escondido. We cooked almost all of our own meals in the outdoor kitchen and enjoyed shopping at El Mercado Benito Juarez, a great experience. The fresh mahi mahi we got there was wonderful. If you decide to visit and want to enjoy the evenings, be sure you have bug spray and coils. They kept us completely protected. While not cheap in Mexico, a rental car is really necessary to get the most out of this kind of location.
There was only one let down to Sabels' excellent service and the beauty of Casa Kikilia; this place charges a 19% service tax IN CASH at the time of arrival, this however is only stated in the (website hidden) translated, spanish version of this posting and its only in spanish language.
Other than that, you get exactly what you are seeing. A beautiful, open space in a super-safe gated community with only one other house separating you from what's basically a private beach (there was no one at the beach during our 2 day stay).
Definitely bring a car, don't expect great wifi, fill the fridge and just disconnect in this super peaceful place.
Everything was gorgeous and perfect, we loved our stay in Casa Delirio.
Casa Kikilia is a great outdoor living house, only a couple minutes walk from the beach. We enjoyed sitting outside in the dining/living area enjoying the ocean breeze, swimming in the pool, and playing in the ocean waves & sandy beach every day. The beach is incredible - it's a huge open expanse of soft sand and warm ocean with hardly another soul around.
The hosts Sabel & Stan were very friendly and helpful - when the power went out and the water pump stopped working they immediately found a repairman and went to town to buy spare parts and offered their own shower for use during the time we were without water.
The only negative I would say about the property is the mosquitoes! They were pretty bad especially at dawn & dusk and the house doesn't provide much protection - bring bug spray & coils!
Casa Kikilia is a peaceful, clean and comfortable house; exactly what we were looking for since we are a small family with two young kids.
Being 20 mins away from Puerto Escondido allows you to get all the peace and quiet you want (there were two other people on the beach at most besides us!) while being close enough to town in case you want to eat out or visit Puerto Escondido.
Host Sabel was very helpful and always available. The house is very well taken care of, both the interior as well as the garden and the pool. It has all the commodities you need or could want. Grocerie store is in town but there is a convenience store about 2 mins away by car.
I would definitely stay there again if I go back to Puerto Escondido.
