Philippe and his associate, Laurent, were extremely helpful with logistics and orientation to Aix. The apartment is on a busy, but relatively quiet, street in old town (no cars) close to fantastic restaurants (the best crepe place in Aix is next door!) and shops. The grocery, post office, and open-air markets (flower and food) are two small blocks away – the underground car park is a convenient five-minute walk past the Apple computer store at the Rotonde (the fountain at the hub of the city).
The apartment is modern, smartly decorated, and clean with much-appreciated details considered. For example, a) adjustable/variable lighting (good for reading as well as relaxing), b) electric outlets everywhere (lots of them), c) fast and RELIABLE WiFi, and d) clothes washer/dryer that does the job (really dries the clothes!). The beds are comfortable, the ample kitchen has a large refrigerator, and the living room furniture is nicely arranged.
Thank you Philippe and Laurent. We look forward to returning to Aix and the apartment next year!
Philippe was punctual and helpful, the beds were adequate and the location was perfect. However there was no shampoo or laundry detergent. My husband said the bed was too soft but I was very comfortable. The best place to park is Place des Cardeurs but only for small cars. Overall a great stay for 3 nights. Thank you Philippe. Louise
Philippe was a gracious host, meeting us at the apartment cheerfully even though we had missed our train and were two hours later than our agreed meeting time.
The apartment is as presented, and everything worked and was comfortable. The location is right in the middle of the old town, a quick walk away from the daily market at Place Richelme in one direction, or the Christmas Fete on Cours Mirabeau in the other. A word of warning, If you are there on a Saturday night, the restaurant downstairs can be very noisy until late. We suggest you avoid the bedroom closest to the kitchen in this case, as it is the noisiest.
Our recommendation for eating out is just around the corner at Place Ramus, la Cerise sur le Gateau, fantastic genuine French cuisine at a reasonable price. Make sure you book, as the place only seats 14 people.
All in all, a great week, thanks Philippe.
Merci beaucoup Philip!
Absolutely excellent. Philippe was hospitable and informative. Property and location were excellent and a great value.
Property was well equipped with kitchen and dining ware, refrigerator, washer/dryer, etc. We were very impressed the moment we saw it and remain impressed today. We would recommend Philippe and the property to anyone. We wish we could have stayed longer.
Phillip was a great host. He was waiting for us at the apartment when we arrived. He explained to us in detail all the appliances. The apartment was clean and it's in the center of town. If we had questions Phillip answered them promptly through out our stay.
I would definitely recommend this place.
This is the second year that we stayed chez Philippe. It's not easy to find this large an apartment in central Aix. There's a good bakery a stone's throw away and the Aix market happens daily, not once-weekly as in most Provencal towns. The apartment has a well-stocked kitchen and we cooked at home alot. One thing, the bedroom windows open to a narrow alley, it's best to leave them shut to avoid a mosquito problem. It's a great location and Philippe is very helpful.
Excellent apartment in the HEART of the old Town! Very beautifully equipped! Out stay un Aix could not be better! Everything was perfect and Phillipp wwas easy to reach. Thanks for everything!
We were very pleased with our stay at Philippe's place! For a 600 year old building, it was very modern and accommodating. Our 20 month old son couldn't turn on the stove or the oven thanks to Philippe's hi-tech appliances that were user friendly. He had everything there including coffee for our stay which was super cool. It was like going to a hotel...music & tv system were up to date and nice. The shower was great and had enough hot water for 3 consecutive showers w/no problem, etc... really we have no complaints. I would certainly stay there again.
Philippe was there to receive us and show us around the apartment and available w/in seconds by text or email to answer any questions we had. He checked in on us by email regularly due to some lost baggage from the airport which was very thoughtful.
As for the location....wow! it really couldn't be any better. It is truly in the heart of Aix. Everything in Aix happens w/in walking distance to his place. We walked EVERYWHERE. This town is super cool. there is something always going on. Street markets 3 + days/week, night life, more restaurants than one could ever want. We got to the beach in Cassis in an hour and change by bus which we walked to from his place. There were little electric car/train tours but we choose to walk the town. As long as one is reasonably fit, walking is best. Cars are not much of an option in the town as many of the streets are blocked and there are so many thousands of pedestrians walking about that car traffic would be cumbersome.
