I'm from Canada + have lived in Puna for 7 years. Farming + living on our Eco-Epicurian WaterFarm excites me. In my urban life i was a professional stock and advertising photographer. I'm feeling the Puna sacred theater!

Great environment to live in, very eco friendly. Robert was very accommodating as well. Would recommend people to live here if they want a different and more nature connecting experience.
The Eco-Farm was wonderful. We arrived later than expected and were greeted kindly by Robert. He made us feel very welcome and helped us get situated on the property.
The property was spacious and beautiful. My children loved seeing the animals as well as all the different fruits and vegetables growing in the gardens. We really enjoyed our stay. It was great for not only our immediate family, but for the extended family that stayed on the property with us as well - we had rented all three units.
Just be mindful that this property is in a community where things are pretty much quiet after 9pm or so. We learned this the hard way by making a bit too much noise for the neighbors, which they let us know about. So if you're looking for a place where you'll stay up late playing games or chatting on the roof deck, you might want to consider looking for other properties.
That said, the Eco-Farm was a delight and one of the highlights our trip. We'd definitely stay there again, albeit next time we'll know to keep our noise down after nightfall.
We absolutely loved the waterfarm and surrounding area. We only spent two nights but there was so much more to do and see around Puna. Robert and the garden care taker were lovely. Would highly recommend staying here to anyone visiting the area.
We had an amazing time staying on Robert's property! The space was small but worked well, and the bed was super comfortable. The property was open for us to explore and engage, and is an example of pure abundance; pure water, fresh veggies, eggs, honey, and more. Robert was an lovely host, very inviting and open. He turned us onto all the best opportunities the area had to offer. Mahalo for everything Robert! We can't wait to come back...
My stay here was amazing. Just the place I needed to relax and rejuvenate. Robert was very welcoming and shared many references for things to do. I will definitely be coming back to stay again.
The eco-farm is an amazing place to stay and experience. You will feel at home and welcomed in the warm and wonderful environment. The grounds are beautiful and real (imagine seeing a tiny pineapple growing). Robert is a great source of information on the local area. The weather was just as expected: it rained at night and cleared up beautifully during the day. Snorkeling at the nearby tidepools is incredible.
I love the Kalapana area of Hawaii - it is beautiful, remote and wild, is far from the touristed areas of the islands and has a wonderful rejuvenating energy. I usually stay at Kalani, the great retreat centre less than 1 mile away, but it was booked for this tip so instead I booked through airbnb. I had a wonderful stay in the 'roof top tower' at Robert's Eco farm… it is simple but beautifully appointed, with full kitchen, two bathrooms, a living area on the main level, a bedroom above that, and a huge rooftop deck with a fabulous view and perfect for stargazing into the dark Hawaiian night sky.
Robert is a gracious host, and invites access to the large garden area on the property and offers to his guests fresh eggs and produce grown on the farm. My only minor challenge was with the hot water … I had trouble adjusting the temperature properly, but that may have been more my impatience. And this is the paradise of Hawaii, where any water temperature will do. I love this place!
Robert was awesome. Very kind and welcoming. The studio was perfect. Clean and had everything you'd need. The was farm fresh produce, eggs, honey and even cream in the fridge. The farm was serene and relaxing. Lots of things to see and do. I'd definitely go back!
Robert was great! He knows the area incredibly well, and can give very detailed suggestions for things to do and what to see. He's very kind and does a great job making you feel at home.
The room itself was immaculate, and exactly as described. Would definitely recommend.
Robert was a very kind and generous host! Upon arrival he gave us a tour of the grounds, picking us a salad and fresh tea for our stay. The apartment (which was everything we were hoping for), came stocked with fresh eggs, fruit and cooking essentials. We were able to prepare some delicious meals and smoothies with what was provided.
The vibe here is more "healthy retreat" than typical Airbnb. This was perfect for us. Robert and his friends that stay on the grounds are all warm hearted, open people and the surrounding area is like none other I've visited. Peppered with small collectives of like minded individuals.
Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short as the location was not as close to some of the sites and beaches we wanted to visit (our fault due to poor planning). We would recommend this place to friends for a few days to relax and rejuvenate.
