Had a very nice time in Daniel's flat, he was very helpful with every, every thing I needed during my staying in Hollywood and he is and interesting person to chat with. His daughter Bella was fun to meet to ! Thanks Daniel :)
Daniel and his daughter Bella were amazing people. Pleased to have met them.
I had a fantastic time staying in Daniel's cool apartment in a very hip area of LA. Daniel was the perfect host, and was happy to leave me to my own devices, or provide me with his intimate knowledge of the area. If you are after hotel-like accommodation, then this is probably not the place for you, but if you want to experience living in a great part of LA with a very cool host, Daniel's place suits perfectly. The bedroom is very comfortable; light-filled,airy, clean and a very comfy bed.
Daniel was a good host and gave us good recommendations on places to eat and visit. The room looks pretty much like in the picture, but the bathroom and kitchen are cluttered and somewhat difficult to get around, and use. There was only very limited wifi. The buildning is fine and has a beautiful roof-top with a great view. The area was quiet, away from the Hollywood noise, but still close to everything.
I stayed at this property for 6 months. This is a decent apartment, well situated and it has a parking space which was really handy. You are near the Grove, the Farmer's Market and LACMA and driving-wise, it's very accessible for lots of other places. It's airy with nice big rooms and was reasonably well furnished with a small balcony. You have Direct TV set up and wifi (though it was painfully slow when I was there). There's lots of windows to get a breeze circulating (no A/C sadly).
The 2nd bedroom co-joins the kitchen and living room which means you have to go through this room to access the kitchen. Not ideal for a long-term guest. OK for a vacation I suppose.
Hosting-wise, there were some hiccups along the way. The apartment was not cleaned before I arrived, there was an insect problem and the washer flooded.
The host arranged for 2 hours of cleaning to be done. The rest had to be done by me and took several hours. Additionally, the place hadn't been cleared out properly so there was half-used products in the bathroom, the refrigerator still had food in it (including a dead bird - feathers and all!).
The hosting was the biggest problem. I can see that Daniel is a good person and was always trying to be helpful and do the right thing but it felt like hosting this property was an inconvenience for him and he wouldn't always think through his actions. For example, when there was a problem with the boiler, he told me to call the gas company... even though I'm not the account holder. At one point he asked me to vacate for a week so that the tenants (this is a sublet) could move back in. He also, agreed a refund for the faulty washing machine then ignored any further communication about it. In the end Airbnb had to arbitrate.
It sounds like a bigger nightmare than it was. I was just a little frustrated by the hosting is all.
Overall, this is a good apartment (though the bedroom needs painting. It has white patches all over - not visible in the photos), perhaps a little overpriced but for the above reasons, worth a punt but just buyer beware regarding the hosting.
Great location, great place, host is very helpful.
I was in LA for 4 days for a conference at the Convention Center. It was a 20-minute walk from Daniel's place, which gave a nice opportunity to get the know the neighborhood. Daniel is a very relaxed and gracious host. His place is hard to describe -- it is eclectic and beautiful and cluttered with the trappings of a single father. Besides being a great host with deep knowledge about the neighborhood and all things LA, he's just a really great guy to hang out with and talk to.
Daniel is a nice and helpful host. He gave us private space but was always ready to help. it would be better if the room is more tidy.
Place was amazing - as big as the picture shown! Daniel was an amazing host - super prompt, nice, and made our stay in LA truly memorable.
What a fun experience; to introduce a stranger into your house and make them instant family! We so enjoyed our time with Daniel and his daughter who visited for a few days. They loved the house and pool and we loved Daniel's cooking! They are welcome back anytime.
