We have lived in volcano Hawaii for 32 years. We have been in the vacation and bnb Business for 30 years.
This was an awesome place - exactly how it was described
What a treasure! The cottage is beautifully appointed and well laid out. We felt we were coming home after each day's hiking in nearby Volcano National Park--literally only minutes down the road. And we were just minutes from Volcano Village where groceries could be bought or meals enjoyed. We were glad to have arrived before nightfall as the jungle setting around Volcano makes it quite dark and could make it difficult to locate the rural lanes where the cottage is located. Brenda provided everything we needed for a luxurious stay. We arrived to find beautiful fresh flower bouquets, a ready hot tub, a warming towel rack in the bathroom, a fire set in the wood stove--not that we used it. What more could we ask for? The decor gets high marks for aesthetic taste and the interior woodwork is exemplary. The amenities made it feel more like staying in someone's tasteful home rather than a vacation rental. And yes, the bed was very comfortable. We had our coffee on the porch each morning to listen to the bird song.
The Tsugi Teahouse is gorgeous. It is very well laid out and all of the windows make it feel like you are living in the rainforest. The property is very private as it is tucked into thick rainforest growth. The amenities are wonderful. The bathroom is luxurious and the hot tub is a real treat. The proximity to Volcano National Park is really great. You can pay for a permit ($15/car) and get access to the park for 7 days. So, it is really nice to be able to drive just 5 minutes to the teahouse and then go back to the park for more exploring. It makes it easy to see the park in the day and then go for sunset or sunrise and see the glowing crater of the active volcano. Brenda’s instructions were very clear, so it was easy to access the house even without meeting anyone when we arrived. Google did have a little trouble with the directions, but it took us to the correct street, so with the address in hand we were able to turn around and find the location without a problem.
Lovely place! In the middle of the jungle, and only a few minutes away from Volcano National Park. It was great to have a close home base for exploring the park, and wonderful to come back home to soak in the hot tub after hiking! The full kitchen was a great way to save a few bucks by cooking our own breakfast and a few meals. We loved the birdsong in the morning too! Very comfortable, clean, and overall pleasant place to stay.
We loved our stay at the tea house. It is one of the most unique, and beautifully appointed Airbnb rentals that we have experienced. It is nestled deep in a subtropical forest. At night, we relished soaking in the hot tub. It is also a perfect spot to explore Volcano National Park, especially if you go back at night to see the fiery lava glow. We really enjoyed our stay. I will return with my husband as it would be a very romantic getaway!
We live on the other side of the island and just wanted a little getaway, what a perfect place this was! The location and privacy was exactly what we were looking for. Of course we took full advantage of the fireplace and hottub, as it can be chilly at night in Volcano. Close to Volcanoes National Park, for easy exploring, but also cozy and comfortable enough to not leave if you don't want to. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would definitely recommend to our friends, or come back again and stay ourselves. Mahalo!
This home was absolutely beautiful! It is surrounded on all sides by beautiful greenery, and pleasantly secluded, even though it is in a residential neighborhood. The hot tub was a nice addition, but our favorite part of staying here was waking up to the sound of so many types of birds! It was a real treat. The place also has a full kitchen, which helped us to feel at home. We didnt get an opportunity to interact with Brenda at any point, but had everything we needed to feel comfortable. Make sure to bring warm clothes and slippers if you come in the cold months - the wooden floors get very chilly! Overall, a great experience.
My fiancé and I stayed here for a couple nights and really enjoyed it. A great deal of thought has been put into the beautiful furnishings, which richly reflect the Asian history of the area and do a fantastic job of immersing you in a coherent them. You'll really feel as though you're staying in a Japanese Tea House! There are a few friendly pheasants on the property that we enjoyed interacting with, along with a couple cats prowling the area (which we hope don't eat the pheasants!). We felt this one of the best places we stayed on the Big Island, and that it provides a value competitive with some of the pricey resorts you'll find in Kona. If you enjoy hiking and nature, this cottage is excellently located, being a short 2 or so mile drive from the entrance to Volcanoes National Park. We highly recommend staying here, and will likely return if we can!
Such a stunning house and grounds. Really lovely spacious well-stocked home was a perfect place to spend the new years. We were particularly impressed with the master bedroom and the incredible landscaping and outdoors work. Would absolutely recommend staying here
Everything at the Bamboo cottage was as described and perfect. The directions sent were extremely helpful given the remoteness (in terms of being hidden off a main road) of the unit.
Check in and check out were seamless, and the cottage itself was wonderful. Simply a great place to nestle away for some quiet time after a days adventure on the island. Would highly recommend to all others.
Brenda was very responsive (even checked in since we got in later than expected - very appreciated). Overall the stay was simply fantastic.
