Myke was a great host and provided helpful information for our trip. His house is awesome with a great patio deck area and beautifully finished bathroom. The cats were a lot of fun to play with too. Would definitely stay at Myke's again if I was back in Winnipeg!!
Myke is a great host. He's very informative of the area, and he gave me a lot of tips for getting around and things to do while I was there. He's very sociable and intelligent, and it was really nice getting to sit and talk with him a lot. The house is an older house, but it is kept up well. It actually reminds me a lot of the house I grew up in. I love all of the art work and knick knacks all around the house. He has two cats who are super sweet. I enjoyed getting to interact with them during my stay. The location of the house is close very close to downtown. It was withing a couple of miles of the things I wanted to do around downtown. I was able to walk to where I wanted to go or take the buses. There are a few bus stops really close to the house, so that was very convenient. Myke did inform me that if I was out later at night, to be sure and ride the bus or take a cab because there are some substance abuse issues within the neighborhood, so to be careful. I never had any incidents while there, though, but I really appreciated the information, especially being a woman out on my own. Winnipeg was a smaller city than I had expected, but all in all, I really enjoyed my time there, and staying in Myke's home.
Myke was very personable and extremely patient and helpful for this unprepared visitor. The place is easily accessible (I had a car, but it's on the bus route).
Staying with Myke in his eccentric, colorful home was a treat. A lovely sized room with lots of light, a gorgeous bath with a soaker tub and excellent shower, a fully functional kitchen, and a house full of things to look and wonder at. Myke was so kind and generous and I would recommend his place to anyone coming through Winnipeg!
I stayed with Myke following a rather exhausting work experience in Winnipeg. His welcoming and measured attentiveness meant that I had nothing to worry about throughout my stay, and let me focus on relaxing and enjoying Winnipeg.
The house was a wonderland of incredible interior (and exterior) design. There's enough to look at for a week's stay. The cats are a treat, although you should be prepared for daily lint brushing (Myke had stocked my room with one on arrival).
Conversation with Myke was pleasant, and he provided all sorts of insights and recommendations regarding this city, it's history and attractions.
All in all a fantastic stay!
thanks alyx, any time
Arty house is very art fantastic indeed. The host Myke is very intelligent and has a good perspective on Winnipeg and Toronto. There are cats and you will need a lint brush. Conveniently located near bus stop with a brilliant grocery and restaurant beside the house.
if you need a place when you move here let me know
Myke was there when I arrived. He was more than helpful about storing some extra things and my bike for me.
The art and decor is really cool. It has a very eclectic vibe. Mike is well travelled, great to talk to and has excellent taste. His house is magical with all the whimsical wall ornaments and art.
Friendly cats welcome you in, one slept on my bed for awhile. I really enjoyed my conversations with Myke, really interesting person.
The area was not conducive for walking around in the evening.
Myke offered a relaxed hospitality and support that was much appreciated. He helped me plan my way through an evening of events that I wanted to schedule so that it was easy and supported. He made adjustments to match my scheduling needs and was very understanding about them. He showed genuine concern for my wellbeing during my stay. True hospitality! I will book there again when I'm in Winnipeg.
Myke's house is very colourful and full of art and texture. We didn't get to spend a lot of time with Myke as we had differing routines, but we did see a lot of the cats, who are very friendly from the moment you set foot in the door! The space is cool, and the bed is very comfortable to sleep on but there is a lot of cat fur. The bathroom is one of the best spaces of the house, with a lovely shower and a stand alone tub. Like some other reviewers have said - the neighbourhood seems pretty rough until you get to the main part of downtown. We found a cool underground cafe for lunch and explored the city on foot during the day and stayed in for the evenings.
His house is very colorful , a lot of decorations, ornaments and crafts, is filled with Indian elements. In addition there is a grocery store nearby, convenient for guests need their own cooking, It is 20 minutes walk to the city center, you can take the bus to the airport, the unique geographical location. very nice for staying there and played with three cats.
Myke stayed at my Bachelor apartment for over a month while the Exhibition was in Toronto. He took out his garbage and left the place pretty tidy! I would definitely have him back!
