We absolutely loved staying at Phil's cabin. Just wish we could have stayed more than one night! Everything is exactly how you see in the pictures. A warm, clean, chic cabin!
When we arrived it was dark and raining outside. The cabin was stocked with firewood and paper to start a fire. The cabin description is accurate, cozy! The floor print is generous for 2-4 people, but you can easily sleep 6. The built-ins are full size beds and there is a queen air mattress in the loft, which you get to by climbing a wooden built-in ladder. High ceilings and lots of natural light helped offset the gloomy weather outside. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, pot & pans, silverware, bottle/can opener and french press. There isn't a microwave so bring kernels if you want popcorn and you'll need to bring pre-ground coffee. There were cooking oils, salt & pepper in the cabinet for cooking and dish soap for cleaning up. There is a nice grill on the deck but we didn't have the best weather to use it, also a table for dining outside. The washer and dryer work if you need to wash clothes and the house is stocked with linens and towels. The neighborhood is residential, at the end of a quiet street. There is a trail behind the house that leads to the Deschutes River from the neighborhood and can accommodate a morning or afternoon walk/run. The location is beautiful, peaceful, and a relaxing place to escape or rest in between adventures. The drive to SunRiver is about 10 minutes and Bend is an easy 25 minutes on 97.
Good stay in Portland! Convenient to some great restaurants and bars... Bus stops are convenient, yellow max line is a 10 min walk. Lots of street parking.
House has lots of character and charm with creaky steps and finicky doors. Back patio and small yard for dogs was nice though wood steps get slippery with moisture. Our older dog learned to be quite careful after the first tumble.
Never met Phil in person, but was quick to respond when messaged. We were left in a well stocked/prepared house. Convenient in/out with key lockbox on porch.
Overall, a solid 8 out of 10. Not the best we've stayed at through AirBnB, but would certainly stay at again!
Great cabin. Awesome value.
What a wonderful experience! The cabin is decorated so authentically and everything I needed for my two day trip was available. It's in a private little neighborhood and the surrounding environment is full of charm like the house. My bed was comfortable and I felt immediately at home. I brought my own heater as it could have gotten quite cold, but that's a cabin in Bend, and for the price and proximity to Mt. Bachelor, I'm sure that it cannot be beat.
Great cabin! Just a short drive from Mt. Bachelor. Love the vaulted ceilings. This is a perfect cabin. What a cabin is meant to be: simple, cozy, convenient. Watch out for the deer head in one of the cabinets though, made my girlfriend jump lol
Phil's cabin in Bend surpassed our expectations as a cozy retreat in the woods for a four night getaway. Phil was quick to respond to any questions posed prior to departure, often getting back to me within only a couple of hours. This was so appreciated! It was a huge bonus to be able to bring our fur babies along with us at no extra charge. Phil even had dog food stocked in the kitchen pantry, though we certainly didn't need it having brought our own.
There was plenty of firewood available for our stay. We brought our own DVD player and sleeve of movies along with us for late night viewing. If you are someone who appreciates these comforts of home, I recommend doing the same, though with all there is to do in the area, you certainly don't need it.
The road was very quiet with the woods right outside the cabin door. This was nice for early morning walks. Though we didn't use it, the loft upstairs was too cool, with an air mattress and blankets included!
A 30-35 minute drive to Mt. Bachelor and 30 minute drive to Downtown Bend, the location was very convenient. The only thing I might mention is that there are only two full grocery stores nearby- Sunriver Marketplace being closest- and somewhat pricier. The other I don't remember. I would definitely recommend stopping at the Walmart or Albertson's in Bend on your way in if you are looking for more variety at lower prices.
All things considered, an excellent stay. Excellent host. Excellent time. Appreciated the visitor's guides and local menus left on the living room table. We will be back and share this listing with friends.
The house is well located, close to great eateries. Check in and out was simple, the host leaves a key in a lock box for you. We never met Phil, communication was minimal but he has set up his place so that it is possible: the house manual was clear and there were many guide books on Portland that he provides for you. So if you are wanting a simple stay this place will suffice, if you are wanting a lot of interaction and to meet new people, then perhaps it may not be.
This cabin was the BEST DEAL IN TOWN !!!
If your going to stay in Sunriver, OR, especially on a tight budget, Phil's cabin is THE PLACE TO STAY.
It was a great location just south of the Sunriver resort, located in a sparsely populated suburb near a forested area. A very quiet residential area.
The cabin having a kitchen and laundry room, made our stay much more comfortable since we could fix our meals there ($ave money) and not have to pack our dirty clothes home.
I would definitely stay here again.
The La Pine cabin was a great place to stay. Just the right size and very comfortable. Bigger than it looks in the pictures. We kept the woodstove going to keep us warm day and night. The perfect place to unplug from the big world and settle into a nice cabin time. Close to lots of opportunities to ski and snowshoe.
Nice guy, glad to have him.
Phil is a very nice guy! Easy guest.
Phil was a welcome guest, clean and easy.
