I rented Phil's place for my dad, and he was very happy with it. And, personally, I was very impressed with the space and the value. I didn't get to meet Phil, but getting my dad settled was a breeze nevertheless -- the place was clean and bright, and had everything you could want. Plus, the Mississippi neighborhood is one of the best in the city. I'd definitely recommend this spot.
Solitude, Safe and Simple.
We arrived to the modified, A-frame cabin and found it in great condition. The stocked, wood burning stove was a welcome reprieve from the drizzling cold rain we had endured from our drive. Kitchen, fridge, sink toilet, shower, power, running water, deadbolt-locking doors, check, check, and triple check. It was great to see the comforts and safety, one wants and takes for granted from home, but we found that what we truly enjoyed, were the simple things one takes for granted. We were in a remote, yet completely urban neighborhood surrounding. We, have to admit, we were both a bit jealous that such an escape can exist in such a remote location, yet have all the basic comforts of home if one wishes. We found ourselves paying closer attention to property prices on our drive away in the morning. We appreciated the cozy beds with room enough for two to cuddle the night away, yet the sprawling enough for a single person to forget their troubles from city life.
Phil, was prompt to respond to any and all queries regarding our arrival, and departure. And as advertised and promised, the cabin was in better than stated condition for our arrival.
We enthusiastically recommend Phil's cabin for anyone wishing a very safe and needed night of solitude. An excellent get-away for an artist, or young couple, or avid skier, looking for their needed basic comforts, with the much needed time for solace we all take for granted. ...We're a bit jealous of Phil.
Phil doesn't live at the property but was very helpful in helping us get in and settle over the phone. The cabin is very clean, beautiful and well maintained.
Our stay at Phil's cabin outside of Bend was absolutely lovely. The cabin was well equipped to cook meals and stocked with wood for the stove to make the place extra cozy. Warm lighting and a comfortable bed completed the experience. We also enjoyed walking the trails behind the cabin with our dog and exploring the river, just a stone's throw away. The quiet and peaceful neighborhood made the location an excellent getaway. I will certainly stay here again the next time I'm in Bend.
Phil's cabin was so cute and comfortable! It looked exactly like the photos and Phil was very helpful. We didn't want to leave!
He allowed us to have a small fire in the backyard Fire pit and even let us pull wood from his wood pile. No wifi so we were definitely "unplugged" but it was refreshing to sit on the front deck and look at the stars or listen to the birds and it's located only 20 minutes from downtown Bend. We would definitely stay there again! Thanks Phil!
Phil's home is absolutely perfect. It's a very cozy and welcoming home. The neighborhood was great and has amazing food and bars. We loved our stay at his place in Portland and hope to be back soon!!
The house and location were great. Location is a nice neighborhood within walking distance of Mississippi Ave. House is a nice craftsman, love the décor and charm. Communication with Phil was great, quick and to the point, response time was great. Will be back the next time we're in Portland! :) Thanks again, dawn
The cabin was great, perfect for our stay! We really enjoyed coming back to the cabin after a long day on the trails, starting a fire, making dinner and just relaxing. The beds were almost too comfortable! The location was a great jumping off point for our trip, about 20 minutes from downtown Bend. There are trails directly behind the cabin that make for a great morning or evening walk. The cabin is stocked with all the necessities. We would definitely stay again!
Phil was a great host and was very quick to reply to any inquiry within a day. He let us know ahead of time about a broken toilet handle that would be fixed after our stay. The cabin itself is great -- just as described, and the most recent reviews are accurate. The woodstove is a great amenity. The kitchen has no microwave, but stove top and oven available. Linens and towels were provided. There is a washer and dryer if you need to make use of it. The doors and windows can be drafty, but the cabin has a baseboard heater. In the winter, consider bringing your own blanket if you like to be toasty and your friends claim the house blankets :) it's a great cabin, and if I ever come back to Bend, I'll be staying here! It's a great value.
Phil reached out and provided clear instructions regarding entry. All convenient and several thoughtful touches (e.g., cut firewood and headlamps). Very thoughtful.
A great experience. Feels like a cozy retreat, down-to-earth but with things you never thought you needed (but love having just in case!).
Nice guy, glad to have him.
Phil is a very nice guy! Easy guest.
Phil was a welcome guest, clean and easy.
