I am a French physician. My husband is from the United States. We've lived in both countries and have settled back in Paris in 2002.
I stayed for 3 months in Anne-Valérie's place and I absolutely loved it! She's a great host and made us feel welcomed and at home. The studio is very well located and has everything one needs for a comfortable staying. I'll definitely stay there again!
I was extremely disappointed in this studio. The photos show an attractive room, but the reality was much different. Instead of the nice looking bedding shown in the picture, it was dingy, with one sheet having an ink stain, and one comforter had a huge yellow stain. The table legs and the kitchen cabinet doors were dirty, as were all the doors. The silicone around the kitchen sink was moldy, the paint on the backsplash was peeling. In the bathroom, both of the 4inch diameter water pipes had peeling paint plus what looked like rust stains. They were gross, plus the area behind the toilet was filthy. There was mold on the bath tiles. The air vent above the bathroom door was clogged with dirt, hair, and dust. The area behind the bathroom door was covered also with hair and dust. None of the baseboards were clean, were ,again, dirty and dusty. I tried to use the vacuum cleaner, but it was clogged with dust, so it had no suction. I moved out after one week of a six week stay.
studio was clean and comfortable. very close to place monge metro station. travelled around paris very easily. anne-valerie was helpful and kind. would definitely stay here again.
Anne-Valerie was quite a good hostess. She was waiting for me in the front door before my arrival and gave me the keys and all the instructions that I needed. The neighborhood is excellent and it is close to restaurants, bars, theatre and underground stations. The studio is clean and I had a great time staying there. I would stay there again if possible in my next visit to Paris.
I was there for 2.5 months April to mid-June 2012 and had a great time. Five stars is not enough to describe how great a place this is! The location is excellent, 1/2 block from Rue Mouffetard, which is lined with cafes and restaurants, but not tourist shops. Further down Rue Mouffetard (5 minute walk) is every imaginable shop for buying just cheeses, or just meats, or just fruits, vegetables, wine, coffee, or pastries. There is a friendly corner store 1 minutes away with all the essentials. I never went to a supermarket.
Only 10-15 minute away are most sights in Paris. Less than 5 minute walk also gets you to two different metro lines.
The studio is on an inner courtyard, so while all the sounds of busy Paris are just outside on the street (until all hours of night), you can leave the windows open in the studio all night in complete quiet and wake up to the sound of birds in every morning. The french doors open out into the courtyard. I would open the doors and set up the yellow garden table you see in photo and enjoy breakfast and dinner looking out on the courtyard (rain or shine). (The yard did not work well for this in the rainy season, as the ground was seldom dry enough, so I only twice sat out in yard there). The window/french door are south facing so the studio is as light and airy as the photos imply (even more so). I often kept the window and doors open and soaked in the sun. The apartment stayed relatively cool even on hot days and opening the windows at night was an extra plus.
The studio is down a flight of stone stairs through a well kept courtyard and through a tunnel of the inner building into the second courtyard. There are two front doors that both require separate codes or electronic key, so the building is well secured (still lock up when you leave the studio, of course).
25 square meters sounded small, but the lay out is such that you don't feel crowded even if you keep the bed/couch open all the time (which I did, even when my brother was visiting). There is plenty of storage in the deep closets.
I was working south of Paris and enjoyed my 10 minute walk to the RER each day. The walk home at night took me past an assortment of choices for eating in or take home meals.
Anne-Valerie is very nice. I only saw her only twice, but whenever I needed something, she responded quickly and took care of it without me. The studio was clean. The kitchenette was adequate for small meals ( A two burner stove. No oven, except a microwave. )
I highly recommend you take this studio if it is available.
Fabulous location, but off the street, so no noise from Contrascarpe. Anne-Valerie met me at the agreed time, the apartment was clean and nice, and the heaters worked well during a _very_ cold winter!
If you are in Paris for tourism or for work this is an excellent location. The "quartier" may seems too noisy at first sight, but the studio has the advantages of the proximity to this very lively neighborhood and the quite of a small street and building where it is located.
The studio is well furnished, including a washing machine and a little kitchen. This last aspect is interesting also because of the good food markets around the "quartier", specially the one installed at Place Monge on sunday.
we spent a whole month in Paris in Anne Valérie's flat. Located in a central, nice and fun area, we had all we needed just a few steps from the flat.
we have never met the owner but she was helpful from the reservation until the end by constant exchanges of mail. She even had time to help us when we left our keys in the flat despite she was busy 40 min far from us.
the flat is on the ground floor and a bit humid. it's equipped with everything you may need but the oven. Tv and Hifi internet provided in spite of the fact that only one device could be connected at the some time. we expected the flat to be more clean and bigger
but it was acceptable.
higly recommended if you are looking for a cheap rental and a perfect location for a few days. overall a positive experience
We had a great stay in Paris! Anne Valerie's apt was in a perfect location, very centrally located to all the tourist sights and everywhere inbetween. We were able to pretty much walk everywhere. The farthest we walked was to the Arc to Triomphe, and our cab ride back was a mere 10€. This apt is right by the Place Contrescarpe, with many cute and fun bars and cafes and right by Rue Mouffetard where there is a daily street market with fromageries, poissoneries, wine shops, etc. The apartment itself is very bare boned. It served it's purpose because of the location, but amenities are very scarce. If you get the wifi to work, consider yourself very lucky. We gave up on it a couple days in. The garden patio which was advertised is hardly a place to sit with table and chairs, but it didn't matter since the Jardin du Luxembourg is only a 5 minute walk away and it is gorgeous! Overall, we were happy with the apartment and would recommend it, just know you will be without Internet unless you bring it yourself.
Convenient location that easily accesses major attractions of Paris.
For cost, value, and accessibility, this is a good rental.
Ciao, spero vi siate trovati bene. E' stato un piacere avervi ospitati.
