Unsurprisingly, I love travelling and meeting new people which is why I've signed up for Airbnb in the first place! I enjoy opening my own home up for guests and I also like to be able to stay in unique places - unique being something I would define as pretty much anything besides a hotel room!
The five things I can't live without: my notebook/sketchbook for keeping track of all my miscellaneous thoughts and ideas, my faithful old wax cotton shoulder bag filled with made-to-measure 'kits' - first aid kit, stationery kit, sewing kit, toiletries kit..! My friends say it's OCD but I like to think that 'anything can happen' and I like to be covered for all eventualities! (Of course my friends never complain when it turns out I have to hand the very things they've forgotten!) Whilst I don't carry one around with me, my other 'must have' is a decent shower which wins over coffee any day of the week. That's about it - I like to keep my belongings lean!
As a guest I will happily adapt to my surroundings. If I'm staying with someone then I like to spend some time socialising (otherwise I may as well be in a hotel) but everyone needs space and I would never expect to be entertained by hosts though of course local suggestions are always welcome. My sociability also depends on my reasons for travelling. My next trip to San Francisco I will be tied up for the majority of my stay with my work at the Games Development Conference which will mean long hours, early mornings and late nights so whilst I'll be as quiet as possible, if you're easily woken by your front door or your shower going before 6am you may not wish to host me on that particular trip!
On the other hand, if you work in the gaming (electronic or traditional) then I am turning my career toward story/game/product design and I would love to network with other likeminded individuals.
Five words that sum me up: Polite, open-minded, sociable, reliable, problem-solver.
