My husband and I own The Birdhouse in Hancock NY. We offer overnight stays, photoshoot locations an unusual respite for the weary travelers in the Great Western Catskills.
We've had a great airbnb experience!

Host had excellent and clear communication throughout our stay. She also provided a list of places to go and and local shops and gossip of the area.
The place was spectacularly clean and comfy. We had great time!
Unfortunately, the bakery was not open. So don't go expecting baked goods as we did -- we were disappointed.
We did not meet Jackie, but did meet Anna who seems to be a caretaker of the apartments. She seemed nice, but didn't really explain her role vis-a-vis Jackie -- so that was all confusing.
What an adorable apartment -- exactly as described and pictured. We stayed in the unit with the enormous bath tub (with aluminum surround) and took full advantage of it! Wish we could have stayed longer and done a little cooking. The kitchen is well stocked. The whole place was so cozy and comfortable. It felt like home.
The only disappointment -- which had nothing to do with the apartment -- was that the downstairs bakery was so seasonal, we found it was closed until April!
But Hancock was the perfect spot for a quick overnight, and Jackie was super-responsive and very helpful. Keys were left for us in the mail box. Next time, it'll be a longer stay.
My sister, our two dogs, and I had a wonderful two-month fall stay in the Nest, the 2-bedroom suite. Check-in was very flexible, which was helpful for us. We arrived to a very cute, neat apartment and plenty of towels, blankets, etc. There's a coffeemaker and the kitchen is stocked with tea, coffee, some kitchen essentials, and even complimentary alcohol :)
Since we were there for a more long-term stay, I really appreciated that it was spacious enough and had enough storage for the things we brought with us. The bird-themed suite was decorated very nicely and I appreciated having lots of plants in there. Everything is clean and renovated. The bathtub really is great and I had some very relaxing soaks in there. Now that I'm back in an urban apartment, I really miss all the light the Nest got. During our whole two-month stay, the only issues we really had were a leaky kitchen sink and the Internet, which is the Bakery's public wi-fi, going out sometimes but Jackie was so responsive and quick to address any problems and having the housekeeper, who lives in the building, nearby really helped.
The town is very small, you can probably walk across the longest part in 30 min. It is surrounded by natural beauty, we loved seeing fog over the mountains/hills from right in front of the building. We were able to get by for two months without a car, but a car would make things way easier. There's a grocery store, Rite Aid, and laundromat a few blocks away. We are people of color and Hancock is very white, which felt uncomfortable for us but there were no incidents and that's not any fault of the Birdhouse anyway. We were more focused on reading, writing, hanging out with our dogs at home, etc while we were there than going out, but we did love the Bakery downstairs. The pastries are homemade and we got addicted to the cheesecake bars and the key lime bars! All in all, a really enjoyable stay :)
The space was wonderful. Great decor - all repurposed/recycled/antiques. Very peaceful. Stayed in late fall so town was very quiet and many businesses were closed most days but we were looking for a restful getaway and everything we needed was available within walking distance (grocery store, great bakery downstairs, restaurants). Nice locals.
Cuckoo's Quarter's was a really sweet little respite spot in the catskills. The kitchen was cozy and equipped with everything you might need and even some spices and staples. The bathroom had a nice tub and was quite spacious and the bedroom could easily sleep 4 o 5 in a family.
Nice little spot, friendly host and caretaker.
Lots of kids toys tucked in the closets and fun for everyone.
Jackie called me prior to arrival to make sure I knew where everything was. The place is just as cute in person and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I would definitely stay here again.
This was exactly what we were looking for and more. In a quite town of hancock, this hipster apartment is fabulous. The apart me was very clean and organized. Everything you needed was there. A supermarket is less than 5 minutes away. the kitchen is a dream and very comfortable for small to large meals. The bathroom is out of a magazine and the bedrooms very comfy. As a host Jackie is very responsive and attentive. We did not meet, but it wasn't necessary , she responded very quick through email. Overall we would love to go back! Vey nice apartment.
We worked at a summer camp in hancock and Jackie was great to help us out with accommodation on our nights off
Our experience was fantastic. Jackie was super responsive to our last minute booking and left everything set for a seamless arrival. The apartment was very clean and decorated in a cool, creative style. Bakery downstairs is spectacular.
Jackie and her husband stayed with me for just one night to celebrate Jason's birthday. They are a delightful couple who made themselves at home and even brought me a bottle of organic syrup as a gift - one of the many they produce themselves. They are welcome back to my home anytime. I hope you enjoy hosting them as much as i did.
Jackie and Jason are incredibly interesting people! We had plenty to talk about! Their kids are amazingly bright and curious!! There seems to be a thread of ingenuity and genius in that family with a huge helping of entrepreneurial spirit! They have a fabulous new product called Blue J Syrups which they graciously treated me and my guests to...in a word DELICIOUS!!! How rare is it that guests bring me gifts? I was more than happy that they accepted my offer to take some of my perennials home with them. I expect great things from all of their business ventures! I must say they were unforgettable and fun house guests!
Jackie and her family were really sweet. She was fun and really interesting to talk to and even got to learn some stuff about AirBNB which was helpful. She's welcome back anytime.
