The renovated 1920s cottage is delightful and is in an excellent location on Lake Union. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. I stayed here for a month-long break between overseas assignments. Kelly was an excellent, friendly, and responsive host. I hope I will have an opportunity to stay here again someday.
Kelly is a wonderful host. The cottage is amazing. If you like seaplanes, gardens, sail boats, good coffee shops, easy access to downtown, and cozy accommodations then this place is for you.
My husband and I just moved back to the Seattle area and stayed at Kelly's charming Tudor for >1 month while waiting for our belongings to arrive from overseas. What a wonderful experience we had, especially during such a big transition. The Tudor looks as though you've entered a 1920s time capsule. I loved all the antiques scattered throughout the home. The home has everything you could need during your stay (even a blender). The only thing we'd liked in addition was a dishwasher and washing machine but it wasn't an issue.
This Eastlake location is quite nice and I enjoyed walking around Lake Union and looking at all the lovely houseboats. Serafina can't be missed; it's an excellent restaurant up the street and Pete's grocery was super convenient only a block away.
I met Kelly a handful of times while coming & going and enjoyed our conversations.
I'd absolutely recommend staying at Kelly's charming Tudor.
We really enjoyed our stay here. It was easy to get to, just off the highway, but very quiet and pleasant so near the water. Well equipped kitchen, clean comfortable bedrooms, and enough lights in the living room so we both could read. A short bus ride downtown, an excellent restaurant in the neighbourhood, and the added benefit of being only a block away from one of Seattle's best wine stores-- all these features really added to the pleasure of our stay.
Our stay in Seattle was a memorable one. Kelly's home was an absolutely perfect location and she was the ultimate host. Her home was warm and cozy and perfect for my family of three. The two bwdroom cottage is in a great local near two delicious restaurants, right on Lake Union and near highway 5 that will take you to downtown in minutes or airport 20 mins away. Thank you Kelly for your amazing hospitality and allowing us to spend Christmas in your home.
Really relaxing and wonderful
Welcoming, flexible host made our stay very pleasant. The plants around the cottage are even more beautiful than in the image. Location was perfect for wandering with access to the lake shore and a quick car ride into downtown Seattle.
I am almost loathe to write how I feel about this house for fear it will never again be available to me. But, I could never do Kelly the disservice of representing her amazing house as anything less than STELLAR.
This spacious apartment is utterly quiet, super clean, incredibly appointed and very private. The house interior is beautiful without being stuffy---full of interesting and artistically arranged items. But not too full--the flow is clean and open. The furniture is funky AND comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms are both gorgeous. The shower is AMAZING! Such good water pressure, so hot. Kelly stocked the kitchen with organic, local foods including milk, fruit and more. Kelly's house is surrounded by lush garden with languid, draping vines---passion flowers even! There's a piano, by the way, if anyone out there is musical.
The location cannot be beat. We learned that Kelly's neighborhood is called East Lake. It's sweet and quiet. There is a delicious coffee shop is right around the corner and you cannot miss Serafina---just two blocks away. The best Italian restaurant (outside of Italy) I've ever been to. We ate there 2x. Despite all the marvels of Seattle, we found it hard to want to be anywhere but our lovely, serene house. Our Seattle business required us to be in all parts of the city and surrounding area (Ballard, Kenmore, U District, Bellevue, downtown) in just a few days and this house was in the perfect location so that nothing was too far away. There is also a lovely walking/biking path right next to the house that goes all the way around the lake! In fact, along the walking trail it's only about a 25 min walk right into the heart of Seattle. I didn't have my kids with me, but if I had, they would have loved looking at all the boats in the lake (which is, did I mention, about 40 feet from the house?!!)
We met Kelly while she was tending her garden and she was congenial and helpful. However, had we not approached her, we would never have known she lives in the upstairs of the house, so quiet and meditative is the cottage.
In summary, if I am ever anywhere near Seattle again I will insist on staying at this incredible place. I have stayed in more than 50 vacation rental/airbnbs in my lifetime and this is in the top two (only outdone by an entire villa in Mexico with full staff and all meal provided!) Do yourself a favor and book now. Just please never book when I want to go there. Enjoy.
We have been all around the world and this is the best B&B experience we have ever had. Kelly is an absolute delight as a hostess. Our plane was late by over an hour and thus we called about our late arrival and she could not have been more understanding or more welcoming. The space itself was warm, beyond charming and just beautiful. Lots of natural light, original wood windows that open for wonderful afternoon and evening breezes, gorgeous white subway tile in the kitchen and bath, perfectly placed candles, books, etc., bay windows with a straight on view of the water and docks and garden views all around. Kelly lights the front deck with Japanese lanterns at night and there are wonderful little sitting areas out on the deck. The living room is peaceful with comfy furniture, tv, dvd player and warm gas fireplace. The kitchen - stocked with ORGANIC everything - from cereals, to muffins, butter, local milk & cream, eggs, coffee and teas. The counter had a bowl of organic pears, peaches and bananas that were delicious and everything you might need for dining or cooking was right there in the drawers easily found. The hall cabinets and closet had an iron, ironing board and I even found a sewing kit, needles, etc. She really thought of everything. The bathroom has a magnifying mirror, windows that open on each side of the sink, a deep soaking tub, rain shower with multiple pressure options and multiple sets of towels, cloths, hair dryer and night light. Beyond every comfort imaginable there is the peaceful feeling you get in the space and it's oh so quiet. Just 1-2 blocks away there is a nice high-end market and up the street 3 blocks an excellent cozy Italian/American restaurant with classic live jazz. We had a fabulous dinner and afterwards took a walk along the frontage road along the docks with the houseboats and a view of the twinkling city lights across the water. Kelly made our experience so perfect we will be back and hope to stay weeks at a time. With cups of tea by the fire at night, organic coffee and breakfasts overlooking the city view each morning, wonderful evening strolls along the water, peaceful afternoons on the deck, a good tub soak before bed and evening breezes from the garden wafting into the bedroom at night, well...I can't think of how this experience could have been any better. I felt more "taken care of" than I do when I'm at home. I can't imagine how this wouldn't be the perfect getaway year round, rain or shine. It's just too beautiful and restful to put into words. Thank you Kelly. You are the best!
Through no fault of Kelly (or ours), we actually could not stay in the house, as I had an allergic reaction to something there (presumably cleaning/refreshing products). The house is in a nice neighbourhood, and has a lovely garden with a patio. Kitchen and bathroom were really nice, with some food provided for breakfast, which was a nice touch. Kelly was really responsive at first, but sadly stopped communicating after we sent an apologetic email saying we had to leave. This is a bit of a shame, as we still payed for the full stay (but stayed only 3 hours), blamed no one and were sorry we had to leave, so a nice response in return would have been much appreciated. Nevertheless, I can see why other people might have really enjoyed their stay there.
