it was great!
Steve and Vidalia are very welcoming and extremely helpful. They provided a ride from the airport, and were always willing to provide suggestions about things to do, as well as places to see. The location is perfect and within walking distance to all restaurants and shops. Will stay with them again!! :)
Steven provided excellent advise and support through booking and preparations. I was met promptly at the airport and taken to a suite with great air conditioning, ample room, reasonably reliable wifi and very helpful staff. Service was excellent, location was amazing and I felt welcome and comfortable the whole time.
Steven and Vidalia arranged everything as promised. A ride was waiting for me after clearing immigration at the airport. The house is located at the end of the Main Street in West End and within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and a water taxi to West Bay. The rooms are clean and Vidalia made the bikes available for me. I kayaked one morning in Mangrove Bight behind the house. The surrounding area is quiet and the evenings are very enjoyable sitting on the balcony. As a single woman traveling solo I felt VERY safe walking or biking around. The snorkeling at Half Moon Bay is quite good. Be sure to take a water taxi over to West End ($3 each way) and check out the snorkeling in front of the Infinity Bay resort. I would recommend this place - it's a great value for the money and made my week's stay an enjoyable one. Also, the Argentinian restaurant about 2 minutes away has phenomenal food!!!
We had a great experience! Our room was tucked away at the end of the main road through West End so it was quiet and private with less than a 5 minute safe walk to the middle of all the action in town. Our hosts arranged for our taxi to meet us at the airport and we had no problems quickly getting setup upon arrival--even stopping at a local grocery store on the way to our accomodations. We were there for a simple week-long honeymoon full of SCUBA and our room was very clean with sorking wi-fi and a fridge provided, as well as clean water and dishes and such as well as towels. Half way through our stay we returned to find our little messes had been cleaned and the sheets changed with all fresh towels--wasn't expecting that--and it was a nice surprise to come home to...we didn't bother w/ the kayaks or snokel stuff since we were diving, but it was there has we wanted to play. Great hosts and we had an easy phone contact at any time which was great for getting help w/ a taxi for leaving the island when the can we had arranged on our own didn't show. 5 stars. We'll be staying here again every year...no need to experiment further.
Had an excellent stay at Steve and Vidalia's place. Room was clean and both Steve and Vidalia were very nice and attentive. The room was cleaned and our water jug was replaced two or three times out of our 8-day stay. Service was excellent, room was perfect, and West End is a great vacation spot. The house is a perfect mix between "right in town" and "very private."
General notes about West End: You'll pay full U.S. prices for food and other items at most places around West End. However, the food is absolutely fantastic and the cost was well worth it. Make sure to bring NON RIPPED U.S. bills. Every place in town takes U.S., but the bill can not be ripped whatsoever. We didn't know that. We brought about $1,500 for the week between two people and found that $800 of our bills had small tears. Luckily we still had enough. Make sure to bring fresh, crisp bills in your trip and a secure carrying case for them.
Overall a great experience. Highly recommended to stay with Steve and Vidalia!
Thanks for your great review. Thanks for the advice about torn U.S. dollar bills-
We hope to see you again.
We spent 9 nights at the Tropical Suites. When we arrived Vidalia was at the airport to greet us with a taxi. She was super helpful and very friendly. The condo is short walking distance from West End, but far enough away to get a break from the noise. They had all the little things you need, coffee, tea, toaster, microwave and water. They really put some thought into the details. There was even cans of mosquito spray outside! The shower always had plenty of hot water. The patio was large with a bench and a table. We ate most of our breakfast on the patio. The room is small and the best place to sit an relax is the patio. We didn't have time to use the kayaks, but it was nice that they were available. The only downside for us was the lack of space to sit and eat. The room only has space for a bed and a nightstand. So if you plan to make meals or hang out in the room (on some rainy days) you will be either on the bed or out on the patio, but the weather was warm so the patio worked great for us! We enjoyed our stay and Vidalia was there and available for all your needs.
smooth arrival, was met at the airport to help is find our way home. Our place was nice and clean! enjoyed the provided snorkel gear. good location very close to market and restaurants. $3 pp water taxi to west bay. would revisit!
The neighborhood was amazing . Loved the small town feel of lazy vacation days. Vidalia and Steven really made our trip run smoothly. Your location is fantastic and will be the first place we would want to come back to when in Roatan. Vidalia, you are such a sweetheart! You truly are a gracious hostess. Your amenities are all there, including free bicycles and kyak use, which we didn't use because we ran out of time! Next time for sure! Until then...
Rachel, thanks for your wonderful review. We try so hard to give our guests the best vacation possible. We hope to see you back soon.
My wife and I enjoyed our first trip to Roatan and staying at Trop Suites. No surprises or letdowns. As advertised. Vidalia was right there to pick us up as we exited customs. The room is comfortable and met our needs. I was unsure to stay in the W Bay or W End area. I picked the right spot for us here in W End. We had more to pick from in places to eat, drink and scuba dive. The water taxis are convenient to visit W Bay. It's a 4 minute walk to the Sundowner's Bar and another 2 minutes to the main beach area. I liked using the kayak once, and the water is calm enough to paddle board also. Vidalia is very attentive and fixed a couple of minor issues during the stay. The wifi works well enough to get emails and browse, but not quite enough to stream video-which seems generally common in the area. We did not meet Steve, but were able to communicate before and during the trip.
Thanks for the great review. We try our best to give our guests the best value .
We hope to see you again.
