Very pleasant and cordial. Kitchen was great!
Our family stayed in the "large spacious brownstone" 2nd floor private room/bathroom/kitchen for 5 weeks this summer, commuting into Manhattan every day. Willam and Ana have thought of a lot of details to help to make your stay comfortable.
The apartment is spacious w/ two queen beds, fresh clean sheets, several nice pillows and clean bed coverings (they put a plastic covering over the mattress, so no bed bug worries). There is a small glass table with three chairs in the room, which makes it a bit cramped, but it is better to have the table then not have it - so we appreciated it. There was also a 2 seat wicker chair, which we only used minimally. There is a LARGE walk-in closet with rods and hangers for your clothing, an iron, hairdryer, and umbrella. The room has a flat screen television. You have access to satellite as well as wi-fi. They have several maps and brochures for local attractions in the area. There is a large overhead fan and in-wall air conditioner - which was helpful both for the heat of summer (whew!) and to help dampen the noise outside and from other guests.
There are plenty of (soft!) bathing and hand towels available for the private bathroom which is down the hall. Willam offered fresh sheets/towels weekly and light cleaning of the bathroom. He didn't enter our room unless asked. You share a floor with their son but you do not share the bathroom.
The small galley kitchen has plenty of cabinet space and a large sink. It has most of what you need including silver, plates, bowls, glasses, mugs, wine opener, knives, cooking utensils, pots, baking dishes, can opener, toaster oven, coffee maker/filters, microwave, stove, fridge/freezer, mop, broom, drying rack, towels, potholder, teabags, creamer, salt, sugar packets etc. A dispenser gives cold drinking water. Make sure you don’t leave food out, though, as cockroaches are common in NYC. There were zero signs of mice.
We didn't find the neighborhood as quiet as other guests- although it may be perspective as we are from a suburban neighborhood, so we are used to things being very quiet and peaceful. There all types of shops and a large variety of diversity and culture in the neighborhood including organic breakfast cafes, coffee shops, markets. We felt safe in the apartment, as Willam is very careful about locking doors. We were cautious regarding what times of the night we walked the streets, and generally tried to get back into the area before it got too dark.
Willam and Ana were very accommodating and kind as well as attentive. They were quick to meet our needs as we communicated them. Willam acted as a taxi for us one night when we wanted to return from Lincoln Center later than were were comfortable taking public transportation back to the area. We really enjoyed them personally (their smiles are contagious!) and would definitely come back if we return to NYC.
Had a wonderful stay at Ana's place - the room was clean, well-equipped, and had A/C (a must for NYC summer!). They made me feel at ease and the place is in the perfect location.
Everything was really great. Quiet and comfortable room with own kitchen and shower. I recommend.
The host canceled this reservation 7 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
le quartier est très pittoresque et calme, Ana et son mari sont cools et serviables.
nous avons appréciés qu"ils aient assuré les transports à l'aéroport.
La chambre est conforme aux photos, le métro est à proximité (5mn à pied)
Very amazing thank you very much Ana.
The location is very convenient. Walking distance to subways and the Botanical garden. Ana and her husband are nice hosts. The room is very comfortable.
Thanks Ana, for a very good stay. The bed was comfortable and the neighborhood was very convenient to where my kids are located. Only suggestion would be a fan for times when it is unusually warm but not time for air conditioners. All the best, Felice
The Murrays were very easy to communicate with. They helped us with airport transportation.
Petra, it was very nice of u to stay at my place , we appreciate that very much. Ana and willan
We enjoyed our stay in Brooklyn largely because of the accommodations in this Airbnb. Ana's very friendly husband Willem picked us up at the airport which saved us time and money (minimal cost, lower than a car service), and he called later that evening to make sure we had enough blankets since it had turned cold. Sweet, personable Ana went out of her way to meet and greet us when we returned late that first night. The location was perfectly safe, mostly quiet (Monday was street cleaning day and someone double-parked someone else in which started a riot of horns at 7 am), and walking/accessible to all of Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, Prospect Park, the Botanical Gardens, etc. and several subway stations. The room is spacious and clean, with two comfortable beds, a nice-sized closet and a kitchen which we didn't use but which was well-equipped, including a hot and cold spring water dispenser. I would only suggest a lock (hallway side) for the bathroom door and maybe some window shades since the large south-facing windows let in a lot of early light and detract from privacy. Would definitely return.
Ana's husband, William was a very good guest. I helped him get to the rental car agency, then he would let us know when he was coming or going out. He cooked a meal for us one night, which was excellent! He stripped the sheets off on the last day, but we would have done that for him. He was a very pleasant guest and called to say how much he enjoyed his stay in Grosse Pointe.
