We had a wonderful time at Paula's place. My husband, two-year-old son and I were on our first family vacation. Paula was very helpful in setting expectations for our stay and addressing any concerns before we arrived. I had called and spoken to Paula before we left to confirm that we had rented the entire home/private residence, she assured me it would be and there would just be one room (where her tenant stays) that would be empty but not available for our use, and that there was usually a dog on the property but he wouldn't be there either.
When we arrived at the house, it was clean and all set up for our stay. Paula wen't over and above with special guest towels, candles, travel soaps etc. There were bikes and fishing stuff for our use (though we didn't end up using them). The pool was clean and the tenant's room was away from the 3 main rooms, and not a problem at all.
The neighborhood was great, a little less than a mile walk to the beach. Friendly neighbors and it felt like a safe and fun little community. We ran into a street fair and there were two great restaurants within walking distance that we went to (Little Havana's and Heidi's).
Only small things that kept this from being a 5, the master shower water pressure was very weak, and the stopper in the bathtub didn't work so we had to improvise.
My boyfriend and I were suppose to stay at Paula's house but after seeing the place we ended up canceling our reservation. Paula wasn't present, but her daughter let us in. We discovered that we would not have the whole house to ourselves and that her daughter would be dropping in occasionally down the hall from our ONE room to use one of the other bedrooms. We would be sharing the house. We wanted to rent Paula's house originally because on the description it stated "whole house/apt" and "3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms/ 1600 sq ft". We found out after talking to Paula on the phone that $100 is to rent a "room" and that is all. In her exact words "If you wanted to rent the whole house it would be like $600.00." Her description of the rental is inaccurate and we are dissappointed it has still not been corrected. It isn't a "whole house" it is a room inside a house shared with her daughter.
In regards to what the place looked like, it was very dirty. The daughter claimed she had just finished "cleaning". There was hair all over (there is a dog on premise) and a dirty cover on the loveseat. The coffee table was filthy. There was an orange in a bowl on the kitchen counter that was black and rotting with someone's open chapstick next to it. The daughter couldn't find our key and while talking on the phone with her mother to figure it out, in her "own apartment" down a hallway, we could hear every word she said on the phone. There was a lot of swearing and unproffessional comments made while she was on the phone.
If you want to rent one room in a house that is shared and dirty for 100.00 a night then you found the right place!
Glorious incredible what can you say about Paula you just have to meet her to enjoy her free spirit and positive outlook on life . Paula brings the great Vibe with her and we hope to see more of her
Miss Paula has asked me to provide reference for her regarding her waterfront home in Cocoa Beach, Florida, and I am pleased to do so.
Her home is in a waterfront community where all residences share wide canals and are well maintained. The property has a private swimming pool and deck area that are generally private enough to enjoy either European sunbathing norms or a naturist lifestyle (which Miss Paula is not offended by). Further down the grass backyard towards the canal there is an adequate dock for fishing, mooring or a boat (there is also a lift on the dock), or just relaxing along the water and watching the sunset (which can be viewed from the residence as well.
Her home has off-street parking, and is conveniently located within easy walking or bicycling distance to the beach and the downtown business district with shopping, several restaurants.
The interior of the home has tile floors typical of this part of Florida. The kitchen is plenty large enough to accommodate the needs of most. There is one step down from the living area into the dining area (closest to the pool and canal), and the sunset can be seen from both rooms.
I have always enjoyed my visits there when I am in the Cocoa Beach area.
