My name is Barbara and I am from Brooklyn New York . I am a realtor and I love to shop and eat nice ethnic food. I also like good company and like meeting new people.
We stayed at Barbara's apartment for nearly three months, from mid October to mid January. She is a warm, terrific host and we felt comfortable with her instantly. If we had any issues she took care of them immediately.
The apt was a perfect fit for us -- not so lavish that we felt anxious about breaking things; but clean, orderly, well provisioned, welcoming. The host had clearly spent time & money to make the space feel homely. With a little baby in tow we wanted to be in brooklyn in lieu of manhattan. not as overwhelming or crowded, and more spacious.
The apt is exactly as pictured. It was our first time taking an NYC sublet sight unseen, and we were delighted with the digs. This place is positively huge for what the market has to offer, just one flight of stairs, and about a 10 minute walk to every major subway line going into Manhattan. We wound up spending lots of time in Brooklyn though, with lots to do just a few blocks away: The Brooklyn Children's Museum, Prospect Park & the Brooklyn Botanical Garden & the Brooklyn Museum just a fifteen minute walk away. Great places to eat on Franklin Ave. Cheap places to buy necessities on Nostrand. Lots to do in nearby Prospect Heights and Park Slope, also.
I had to work in Manhattan daily while my wife stayed home with our baby girl. It's about 45 minutes to get to midtown from the apartment, via the 2,3, 4, 5, A, or C lines. Both the 4/5 and the A are fast, frequent, and reliable.
I'm sure the place is even lovelier in spring and summer with the huge backyard and the well-appointed tree facing the bay windows. We look forward to visiting again in another season.
It was our first time in Nyc and with Airbnb: it was great!! Barbara was a fantastic host. The apartment is as you can see in the photos: it was clean, Barbara gave us towels, sheets, soaps, some fuits, a bottle of juice and a bottle of sparkling wine to welcome us in New York. She helped as with the directions to Manhattan giving us the subway's map and she was very helpful if we needs an help from her. The apartment is 6 blocs far from the A train that connets you to Jfk Airport and to Manhattan and 6 blocs far from the 3 train that connects you to Manhattan too.The A train takes 30 minutes from Times Square. With a stop of the 3 train you can reach the Brooklyn Museum, the Botanic Garden and Prospect Park. In the neiborough there is a market and othes shops that offers you all you need. For us was a great experience in New York!!!
Barb is a great hostess, place is great
We loved Barbara's apartment it was exactly like the photos and Barbara was charming and helpful - the area is a vibrant community and the subway is very close so easy to get around. We would stay again and recommend to anyone who may be looking for a very spacious and comfortable oasis in New York.
This was a beautiful place that was as impeccable as it was warm. Barbara was a great hostess who accommodated my late arrival. She was even thoughtful enough to put a spare toothbrush and toothpaste in the bathroom. The place is huge and squeaky clean, particularly by New York standards and conveniently located close to the A and 3 trains. The building is beautifully restored and the garden in the back is lovely. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. As an aside, it will take about 20-30 mins to get into Manhattan.
