Good place! No complaints. Great for nature-lovers who search for something simple but real and good.
Our visit was a mixed success, I think mostly to my not doing my research and reading carefully between the lines. Luis was very responsive and helpful, and the cabins were indeed nestled in the rainforest and quite clean. However:
1) Other people who visited talked about a fantastic breakfast, but breakfast, if you look carefully, is not included in the Airbnb rental. So if you're looking for breakfast, just check to see if it's available before assuming.
2) There is a bus line nearby, but it only comes every hour, so you'll need to plan ahead. The day we tried to catch it it also came a half hour after it was scheduled. Not sure how normal that is.
3) Luis kept saying in correspondence that "the taxi drivers will know the place" but I wasn't sure what to ask for. Finally, after some googling, I realized that this place is called the "POUSADA CABANAS DO CURUPIRA" but that wasn't clear to me from the listing. The taxi driver did indeed know it.
4) It's a rural cabin. At one point, our water went out, though Luis was very quick to respond and get it back on. It was also very mosquito-y (not shocking for a rural cabin, but good to plan for).
All that said, it's a great rainforest get away, in a magical location. Just be sure you bring your own food, lots of bug repellant, are not trying to get anywhere else on any sort of schedule, and are there to relax and spend some time in nature.
Sorry about the breakfast, but since March 1st we are not serving anymore, this is quite clear on our site and I comunicate that to tou on our first e-mail.I belive you forgot about this.
We had the most amazing time imaginable at this little bungalow in the middle of the forest. Luis and his family went above and beyond to ensure that every bit of our time with them was as enjoyable as possible, and we couldn't be more appreciative of the experience. The property is a short drive to the two nearby towns, Antonina and Morretes, and close to all sorts of outdoor adventure activities. The cabins are very clean, there are screens on the windows (which is a rarity here in Brazil), and the breakfast they serve (on your patio!!!) is out of this world. It was so amazing that we honestly didn't want to leave, and we're already wishing we were back.
Thank you Luis and the family for being a great host!
This poussada is great if you like the rain forest, nature and "the middle of nowhere". It is situated just outside Morretes: 10min by car but you also have the possibility to take the bus.
My advice for future visitors: rent a car, that would make it so much easier ;-)
The cabin itself was nice but basic. Although the bathroom was not 100% well maintained - leaking tap, spontaneous electricity blackout while showering - we could help ourselves.
The breakfast however was just like the pictures!
Also there is a posibility to do some acitivities like kayak, hiking, rent some bikes, ... We did the kayak and it was wonderful.
Tip: if you are planning to take the Serra do Mar Express train from Morrettes to Curitiba at 15pm, keep in mind the train won't arrive punctual at 18pm.
A dream within a dream, a journey within a journey, an ode to Mata Atlântica and to this amazingly beautiful, multicultural, multilingual, mesmerisingly exceptional pousada, a deep reverence for the day-expanding and energy-boosting breakfast.. :) Luis and his family are very kind and caring people. Muchas gracias por todo!
