Beware of Peter!
My experience of him was that he is unreliable and has acted in bad faith.
1. Failure to meet me to check in.
After my London-NY flight was`cancelled I emailed via Airbnb my new arrival time, he said there would be no problem, and we agreed that I would call him from JFK upon arrival. I called, but there was no reply so I left a message. When I arrived to check in he was not there. I had to call Airbnb from a cafe, and they could get no reply from Peader either. When they told me that the payment had already gone through due to my flight delay, I became concerned that I had been (website hidden) took several hours with Airbnb support, and kind hotel staff nearby with internet to sort it out and check in. Very stressful!
The apartment is in a great location, nice building and street, and quiet. The kitchen and bathroom are very worn, but that is ok. What was not ok was the fact that the apartment was not clean and the bathroom was very dirty. Despite this,a $60 cleaning fee is charged.
Peter gave me only one towel, no hand towels or flannels, and he did not make good on his promise to bring round more. The bed is comfortable but there was no duvet cover. Not hygenic.
3. Broken promise re. a refund
Before booking we negociated a lower nightly rate $10 less than advertised, and because it wasn't possible to alter the amount on the payment, he promised me he would reimburse me once I arrived. I asked him about it on check in ,and he assured me he would bring it over. When I saw him during my stay he again assured me he would bring when I checked out.
4. Failure to show up at checkout.
But he didn't show up at the checkout time we agreed. He didn't reply to the text I sent him on check out morning reconfirming the agreed time. Again he didn't answer the phone and again I had to get Airbnb to help reach him. The result was I left the apartment an hour later than planned, stressed and concerned about my flight. And without my money.
To be fair I later saw that he had emailed (email hidden),later than the agreed check out time, but I had no means to check emails there.
5.Refusal to reimburse.
Now home again my request via Airbnb for the promised money to be returned was met with an accusation from Peter that I had caused serious damage to furniature and the floor of the apartment. I caused no damage to his apartment and niether has he contacted the police ,his insurance, or Airbnb to make an official complaint , which would be the appropriate course of action to take.
I have given up on my money, but it is important that future guests be aware of my bad experience.
Great place and awesome location. Tempurpedic mattress and pillows make the stay, even better. Would stay there again.
Fantastic location in the West Village. Apartment fitted my needs perfectly. Peader is an excellent host and is more than happy to share his favourite local spots in the area for food, drinks and good times. Highly recommend.
This apartment was so cute. The photos are true to real life. The location was unbeatable for such price. Easy walk to the train :-) great bars and restaurants close by. The neighbourhood is so nice, scenery and people wise. Grocer close by.
The only small con was the running tap water in the bathroom and the noise of the radiator. It wasn't too bothersome (unless maybe if you're a light sleeper). It can get a bit stuffy at night but it was easily resolved by tweaking the radiator and opening windows.
Peter was an excellent host, super friendly and accommodating even when issues arose. Left us post it notes on places to eat :-)
had a great week-long stay at this apartment. the loft is in an EXCELLENT location, easy to walk everywhere and surrounded by great restaurants, bars and shops. best area to stay in NYC without a doubt! really close to bleecker st, the highline, chelsea market, and can walk easily anywhere else! old building so heater is a bit loud and taps leak a little but it otherwise has everything you need - good wifi, fridge, kitchen, bathroom, laundry facilities, intercom, lift etc. loft bed is a bit squishy because of low roof, but it frees up lots of space in the rest of the apartment. really cosy and comfortable interior!
peter is a great host too - very good communication before and during our stay. had a lot of problems as our stay was during hurricane sandy but peter dealt with the situation wonderfully - was very patient with us changing dates of flights and arrival and kept in contact throughout as much as possible. he gave us lots of tips of things to do in the area and around NYC and even invited us out. he actually lives in the apartment and stays elsewhere when the apartment is booked which means it is well maintained and the facilities are all in good working order (even straight after the hurricane!)
would highly recommend this place! the few things that are a bit annoying like leaking taps and loud heaters are completely overshadowed by the amazing location at such a decent price!! would definitely come back again :)
Peaders place was in a great location and peader was a nice guy .
If you need somewhere fast it is a good place to stay
I actually had to cancel my stay last minute but Peader was understanding and I would definitely look into this place again in the future.
Great guest, clean, very responsive. Would have him stay again.
Very easy to get in touch, respectful, would have him back
Peter was very nice and great to talk to. He is working on some great things in his profession and loves to share them. Great guest.
Peter was very kind, quiet, and clean. Additionally, he was very quick to reply to communications. Recommend.
