Barbara was very warm and welcoming. the apartment was comfortable and the parking space for DC was premium. The apartment is in a neighborhood that is mixed but felt fine.
I would stay there again!
We met an enthusiastic person, Barbara.
She was available for us during the check-in and was supportive.
Barbara house is comfortable but for us was not so ideal. We found it pretty isolated (we had no car and were relying on subway only) Shopping to the supermarket was not convenient and as a result we never have any lunch and diner at home.
Internet connection was challenging too. It worked fairly well in the kitchen only if there was 1 laptop connected, otherwise, the connection was collapsing.
Barbara was great: friendly and helpful. The apartment is large and pretty comfortable although aspects of it are looking a bit tired. Good kitchen with everything you'd need, nice sized bathroom, lots of towels. Bedrooms were a decent size, okay beds. The central air con was fantastic. The wifi was terrible, as others have mentioned. We didn't use the outside space much due to the heat but truth be told, it wasn't hugely appealing. After the additional cleaning fee for a pet, the total cleaning fee was $350 which was a bit steep considering.
So Barbara gets 5 stars, the apartment, 4 or 3.5 if I'm feeling less charitable but the neighborhood was not at all attractive so gets 1 star. We didn't have a car as we were attending a conference (less than a mile walk) but walking around the area was not attractive and we felt a little uneasy. When we first arrived I was pretty shocked by the neighborhood and we didn't want to walk back from the conference after dark. If you were driving I'm sure you wouldn't notice it anywhere near as much but we saw some sketchy characters walking around.....There wasn't a supermarket nearby so provisions were tough to come by (the nearby liquor stored made us feel better though). The upshot is I don't think I would stay there again because of the neighborhood.
Nice apartment, spacious, friendly decorated. Barbara is really nice. But internet only works in dining room.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Barbara was incredibly friendly and welcoming. She was always willing to help and had us pegged as to exactly what we would like. Her recommendations were spot on. The location is very convenient to the metro and it is a big plus to have a parking spot. The apartment is spacious and with 6 of us there was still plenty of hot water. The neighbourhood is really interesting as it is in change and right now the old and the new are cohabiting. Thank you Barbara.
It was a pleasure to stay at Barbara's apartment. The apartment is nice and comfortable, the WiFi did'nt work well. The convention center is close, but not that much (15 minutes walk) however the neighborhood is calm and quiet so you'll enjoy the walk. The apartment only has one bathroom, so you may need to be patient. the place is convenient and good for a one week stay at DC. The Florida street is a little bit noisy, but once you are in the apartment you wont notice.
Nice and spacious apt like pictured in a nice neighborhood! I liked the pictures on the wall and the red kitchen! Wi-fi didn't function properly (very slow) and the TVs too. Barbara is a warm hearted person and easy to communicate with. Parking space behind the house was great.
Barbara has a very nice place - well decorated and appointed. She even left some yummy fruit and OJ out for us. Her place was plenty big enough for 3 adults that didn't want to sleep together in the same room. It there were couples involved, it could have comfortably held more.
The free parking space is a real luxury too.
Only reason I don't give her five stars is there is a bit of urban noise (traffic, sirens, etc.). With that said, we'd stay there again at the drop of a hat - and almost certainly will.
Barbara's place worked out great for a stay in DC and attending a conference at the national convention center.
Barbara has a lovely home and the location is amazing! I now consider it my DC headquarters!
