This is a bit of a strange review, as we only spent the first night of our stint in Austin at the Airstream. Betsy was hosting elsewhere when we arrived (perfectly understandable on an Easter sunday), but luckily she had already made sure we were well equipped with details for nearby restaurants which kept us preoccupied until we could finally contact her. The Airstream itself is charming and within walking distance of downtown. One major bonus for the Welsh in me was the kettle, having not tasted proper tea in over six weeks! We were a little disappointed that the kitchen was not stocked as described and there were no towels, however a quick trip to Quickie Pickie soon sorted this out. Once Betsy was aware, she did her utmost to ensure that everything was sorted.
Unfortunately, due to a problem with the drains, we were left without a toilet for the first night. Betsy ensured the next door neighbour was aware and would allow us to use her bathroom, however she was not in later in the evening or the following morning so we had to make do. Due to the blocked drainage, there was inevitably an influx of flies into the Airstream, which for us, was much more problematic. As soon as she was aware, Betsy was on the phone to find a plumber and stayed in close contact with us throughout.
The following day, Betsy offered us her alternative listing for the Tiny House and insisted on refunding us for the whole trip, going completely above and beyond expectations, for which we are extremely appreciative. The Tiny House is beautiful, and not at all tiny in fact! There's ample kitchen space as well as a cute loft to sleep in. The AC was incredible in the hot weather (we're still not fully aclimatised yet!) and the fridge was also stocked this time. The neighbourhood is quiet and the walk is only a little further into downtown Austin.
We cannot thank Betsy enough for the care and effort she put in to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible under such unique circumstances. We hope the Airstream is up and running soon, but when we visit Austin again, I think the Tiny House will certainly be our top choice!
Our recent stay in the cottage was great. Betsy was pleasant, responsive and helpful throughout the entire experience. The Cottage itself was well laid out, extremely clean, well decorated and had everything we needed for the stay (glasses, cutlery, dishes, etc). We had no issues settling in at all, the beds were comfy and the AC/ceiling fans ensured things were pleasant inside. It's a quick walk from some excellent food and bars and there's a few bus stops a couple blocks away that will take you wherever you want (although a car makes this city soo much easier).
The only hitch hit for us was the Wi-Fi, which is why I knocked a star off (otherwise I'd give 5). While Wi-Fi seemed to be available, the connection was relatively weak and seemed to only exist against one wall of the house (the extent of its range I imagine). Betsy was aware of the issue and mentioned that she was working on a solution - so hopefully that pans out. We were able to get by with cellular data, but wireless would've made things a bit easier.
That said I totally recommend a stay here.
I LOVED staying in Betsy's Airstream. The bed was very comfortable and the workspace and wifi was perfect for getting some work done. I loved the location - just a few blocks away from the Quickie Pickie (I frequented for breakfast, coffee, snacks, groceries, beer) and Hillside Farmacy (one of my favorite restaurants from my visit).
First of all this is the most adorable tiny house you could imagine -- there is literally every thing you'd find in any hotel room or home, but often it's a perfectly sized mini version or a creatively thought out version of the necessities. The entire house smelled like fresh wood and yummy soap and the variety of teas and treats Betsy provided were delicious to enjoy in the mornings while I filled the tiny house with the sounds of NPR on the radio. All in all a super chill place to call my home-base for an Austin stay. A bonus about the location - I was able to walk to/from all the restaurants/bars on E 6th, which was nice because I didn't have to worry about parking. Would stay here again in a heartbeat, can't wait to make it back south.
Betsy was very prompt to reply and the accommodations were clean, comfy and cute as well as exactly as advertised.
Great place, accommodating host. Perfect neighborhood for wandering, slept like a rock in a comfortable bed, woke up listening to the birds.
Great hostess & super cute cottage!
Betsy was an absolutely fantastic host, who went above and beyond to make sure we were properly look after... Thank you Betsy for welcoming us into your home for the weekend... Mitch and Lloyd
We had a great time in the airstream. The location is perfect. It's close to downtown. Walking distance to several restaurants. Betsy was a perfect hostess. Explained everything and gave us suggestions for things to see and do. I'd recommend the airstream and we loved Austin, esp the food!
We arrived late in the evening. The cottage was great: clean, comfortable and not too far to walk into town, with lots of great restaurants and cafes very close by. Betsey was extremely accommodating and helpful and we would stay there again anytime we're in town.
Betsy and her family were lovely people, and it was a pleasure to meet them. They left the apartement clean and tidy, and we had no problems of any kind. Welcome back :)
Betsy is by far the tidiest guest I have ever had! Fantastic! I give her my absolute best recommendations! Please consider yourself lucky if she ever request stay at your place! Thank you Betsy for taking such good care :)
Betsy and family were tidy and respectful and left the house in perfect condition.
I would highly recommend them.
