I'm just another L.A. transplant making Portland my home. I've got the upbringing of a multicultural metropolis with the relaxed mentality of a Northwesterner, and the curiosity of a life long academic.
I get some serious cases of wanderlust and try to get out of town as often as possible. I've done a decent amount of traveling abroad, but am now taking the time to explore the PNW.
I'm a pretty independent traveler, but I am always looking for pointers on where the locals go. I subscribe to the idiom: When in Rome, do as the Romans do! You might see me lounging at a coffee shop watching the locals or hopping on misc trains and seeing where it take me.
I'm pretty fly by the seat of my pants but I do have some travel rituals:
-eating indian food. So far: 7 countries across 3 continents.
-perusing local markets -floral, produce, arts, birds etc.
-wandering around grocery stores
-trying unusual flavors of potato chips. Favorite so far: Honey and Garlic
-checking out local museums. I have a soft spot for science and sculptures.
I am also a budding entomologist so if you know of a good place for watching beetles or butterflies, i'd love to go!
