The host was awesome! Very attentive, kind and easy going. The location was really terrific for exploring Portland. The apt is clean and comforatable. The master bedroom is lovely but the 2nd bedroom is tiny. Also, there is no cable TV. Other than that issue, we would highly recommend this apt for anyone who wants to explore Portland.
Bethany was very friendly and responsive. The apartment did exactly what it said on the tin. Not 5 star luxury but it's not supposed to be and we just needed a place to rest our heads for the night. It had everything we needed, and was warm and comfortable. Location is great.
Bethany was responsive to emails. We were able to find the place and get inside with no problems. The apartment was clean and roomy. It's in a great location; within walking distance of great restaurants and bars that we will visit again someday. I did experience the noise (email hidden) referenced in another review, but only because I was awake; my girlfriend slept through it. In no way would it prevent us from future bookings. Price was on the steep side for one couple but apartment could sleep many; it would be a bargain for larger groups. We needed a place in a pinch because all the hotels were booked for a beer festival. It was a great alternative. Thanks Bethany.
We stayed two nights at Bethany's place in Portland. The location is excellent--two blocks from the Ferry to the harbour islands, the start of the Eastern Promenade and adjacent to the Old Port district. The main-floor apartment was clean and nicely furnished. We had use of full kitchen, plus laundry (had we wanted to use it).
The building is old but nicely fixed up. The ancient plank floorings in the bedrooms add character. There is one large bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and a small bedroom with a queen-size futon. We had the latter and were comfortable. Access from that bedroom to the bathroom is through the kitchen; that worked OK (for a senior who gets up in the night, that's important). Our friends had the big bedroom.
Bethany is a very upbeat and friendly person. She was quite helpful but did not intrude. My top recommendation for Bethany and her apartment. We would be happy to stay there again.
Great location close to all the great bars and restaurants in downtown Portland. The apartment was very spacious and the main bedroom was very large and comfortable. The second bedroom is a smaller with a futon that pulls out. The apartment smelled like cigarette smoke when we arrived, but it completed disappeared with the windows open for a few hours so it was likely coming from another apartment in the building.
this was our first airbnb experience and overall was pretty darn good. the location was excellent. right in the heart of portland, offering a newcomer an excellent feel and access to this incredible town.
the accomodations were okay. the kitchen was excellent; however for the most part the furnishings felt like my first house in college. hodgepodge of rickety tables, etc. the tub is old (rust spots, etc) and it was an area that wasn't so clean. on the other hand, there were some nice touches such as an ample selection of good quality bath products. with all that said, it worked out just fine for what we needed. i never met bethany though we talked on the phone a couple of times and she was very attentive and helpful.
The apartment is in a convenient location, a short walk to the Old Port area and the Promenade path. It's spacious and well appointed. There is decent on-street parking nearby but as it's one-hour during the day, another parking lot is provided that's only 1.5 blocks away; that worked out very well and we could come and go as needed. Bethany was an excellent hostess, providing local guidebooks and writing down a huge list of her own suggestions based on our preferences. As noted, there is a bar 2 lots down. We stayed there Tuesday-Thursday nights and there was no noise the first 2 of those nights. There was minimal noise on Thursday but it could still be faintly heard in the bedroom; that being said, it didn't disrupt our sleep. All in all, it's a highly recommended place to stay during your time in Portland!
We've only spent one night and one day at Bethany's, so we haven't seen her a lot, but she was very welcoming ! Her apartment is clean, big, with a lot of space, and located in a nice neighbourhood : you can walk to the Old Port.
We've also loved the Oyster Co. Eventide restaurant that was one street further, and the Two Fat Cats bakery!
Bethany was very sweet and helpful. Her location is perfect for exploring the city and being able to walk to the waterfront, shops, and restaurants.
Our only problem with her apartment were the beds. The sofa was a futon and the extra bedroom was also a futon. Not very comfortable. The master bedroom has a mattress, however it was very soft. So after walking all day, our nights were not very restful. Improving this would have us coming back for sure! :-)
Great location. Not very luxurious but absolutly the best place we could find for the money. Bethany was a great host who took very good care of us and all of our questions. I would recomend this place 100 out of 100 times. Right in the middle of everything.
Bethany and Chris are totally pleasant and fun to have wine with. You will be lucky to have them as guests, if they pass your way!
LOVED having Bethany and Chris. Delightful people.
Twas good to talk with B about her 4 years of experience as an AirBNB host. I hope you come back again 'kiddos'!
ps. see you in Barcelona!
Amazing guest. I could barely tell she had even stayed! Highly recommend!
Bethany & Chris were wonderful guests! The apartment was left in perfect condition and we would gladly have them back anytime.
I met Bethany over five years ago, when we were both account executives at one of the country's top marketing agencies. We became fast friends, and I am fortunate to count her as one of my dearest. Bethany is one of the sweetest, kindest, and friendliest people you will ever have the good fortune of meeting. She's also a foodie, so knows all of the best places to eat in Portland. And, her building is fabulous! I stay with her each time I return to Portland, and I always feel at home. You'll love it--and the location can't be beat.
Must do: visit Fat Cats Bakery just one block from her, for a morning (or anytime) scrumptious treat.
