I enjoyed my stay at La Catrina very much. I was made to feel welcome from the beginning and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Can´t recommend the hostel highly enough.
clean room, hot shower, friendly & helpful staff!!
and close to nice pozoleria♪
La Catrina was the best jostle I've ever stayed at (of 100+)
Clean, friendly, attentive. I especially appreciate the small lights and plugs in each bed - enough to read and charge your phone. Good wifi. Plentiful breakfast too.
I experienced a very enjoyable stay at La Catrina. The host, Carlos was very helpful during my check-in. The room was immaculate and very well appointed. Flat panel TV, cable channels and a DVD for viewing movies provided by the host. The room was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. Overall, I would highly recommend this hostel to any traveler. It's location was near the center of the city and proved to be accessible to the central areas, within a two block walking distance.
Carolina was incredibly warm and welcoming. My room was clean and comfortable, the bed was awesome. I enjoyed my stay - the only thing that I would change was that the shared bathroom was pretty far away from my room. I expected it to be closer. The neighborhood was great, felt safe at night.
It's a super nice place, the staff is very welcoming, accommodating and helpful, great location, cute little hostel
It is first class and I recommend it. AIRBNB charged me twice on my credit card and they haven't replied to my request to correct it.
When I flew into Mexico City from Austin, Texas I figured I could make it across the airport to the autobus which would take be to a close by town and then another bus to San Miguel. Well, it took a lot more time to get through Customs and I barely made the bus and I didn't get to La Catrina until late, almost 11 pm. But Louisa was waiting up for me and I must say, everybody at La Catrina was nice as could be.
Although there were most young folks out on an adventure, there were a few folks my age (let's just say getting up there). Carlos was very helpful in steering me in the right direction. The fact that Carlos and Louisa are bilingual really helps if you are a bit oxidado (rusty) in your Spanish.
I'd highly recommend La Catrina. The rooms are clean. There is a free breakfast of cereal, toast, coffee, milk, butter, etc. It's quiet enough, great view from the upstairs rooftop patios, nice showers, clean, of course it's brand new. I met some fine travelers. I wouldn't hesitate staying there again.
As of March 2014, La Catrina Hostel is the cheapest place to stay in San Miguel. The reason is because it is a sleep factory. You will have a good bed, warm shower, friendly service, and basic amenities, but it is not an interesting or fabulous place. The atmosphere is sterile, and purely functional. The hosts are friendly and accomodating. It is about a 10 minute walk from the zócalo. The internet works but is slow.
