laid back considerate, respectful and fun
Great place to stay near soho. Nestor was friendly and made my stay enjoyable. I would definitely check with him next time I was going to be staying in the area. Helpful with directions and such as well.
Nestor was great. His place was a block from subway which made the commute really easy. I had the room to myself and I could work in peace (I was there on business).
It's small, New York size room - great for the price. I loved the dog too.
I'll stay again with Nestor.
Great and kind host with the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. Very considerate and accommodating. I'd definitely look him up when I'm in NYC again. Can't say enough good things here -- thanks for making my trip.
As previous guests have mentioned, Nestor is an amazing host. Not only was his apartment lovely, clean, and well-kept, but Nestor and Sandy (his super-sweet Pomeranian) were friendly and accommodating to us. The room in which we stayed was comfortable and perfect for our needs (sleeping by 11pm, awake by 8am). I would certainly recommend Nestor and his apartment for anyone looking to stay in a laid-back, comfortable lower east-side location.
Nestor was Amazing! Extremely helpful and easy going. The tips he gave us and being able to use his bicycles saved us a ton and made our experience all the better. His apartment is in an excellent location with so much to do all close by in a safe area. The room and apartment were clean and neat. We couldn't ask for more.
Nestor was very nice and friendly and his dog is an absolute angel. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.
There was little incident though which I will share for future guests. I stayed one night with my dad and since it was such a short visit we stayed out late the night we checked in and then got up early the next morning. I asked Nestor before hand if it was okay if we left our bags at his place while spending our last day in the city and then we'd pick them up that evening. He agreed so when we left that morning we sat our bags outside of the bedroom and left for our day's activities. We got back to Nestor's around 5pm that evening and I asked if it was okay if we looked through the room to see if we had forgotten anything. He told us that new guests had already checked into the room but we could take a quick look. I had a feeling we had left something but we looked and saw nothing so we returned our keys and left.
While waiting for our train I started to go through my bag looking for our souvenirs. Nothing. I asked my dad to go through his bag as well. Nothing. I called Nestor and asked him if we had left them there and he said he hadn't seen anything but he did throw away a bag of trash from our room. We hadn't left any bag of trash in the room so we both realized that "bag of trash" was all of our souvenirs.
Nestor said he looked through the trash downstairs and couldn't find it. (Just for a time frame we left around 9am and returned to his place around 5pm and he looked in the trash around 6pm)
The souvenirs were in multiple bags, about three or four, one inside of the other.. there was a mug in a box, wrapped jewelry, knickknacks, and actually a necklace my boyfriend had previously bought for me. I can't really dispute if it looked like trash or not. To me of course it wouldn't look like trash but Nestor said people leave bags of trash all of the time and he's not going to go through someone's trash to find out what's in it.
So, whose fault is it? Mine and my father's for leaving the bags in the room? Or Nestor's for throwing it away? To me it was a blurry line and a shame it happened, we lost $145 worth of stuff.
I asked Nestor if he would consider giving me a free night to stay at his apartment as a way of calling it even (since I originally told him it was $80 worth of stuff). That way he wasn't out any money and I could get something back for the thrown away souvenirs. Surprisingly he did not grant me the free night and told me he would not take any responsibility for what happened.
So, I in no way think Nestor is a bad person, and I also don't think he lied and kept our stuff. I believe it to be an honest mistake, but I was disappointed he didn't try to make it right.
Moral of the story is: Don't leave any of stuff behind!!!
Nestor was very helpful and kind. Great location. Love Sandy, his sweet little dog.
Nestor is really nice and relaxed. The room was clean and neat and the location was excellent. I would definitely stay there again. Also, his dog is *SO* adorable!!!
Nestor is a very nice guy. Location was what I was looking for, and I got it.
Nestor is a sweet guy and the room was fine. It's a remarkably laid back atmosphere and ideally located in the Lower Eastside. I'd stay there again.
