My stay was near the end of the season. I was made to feel welcome when Penny honored my request for her to extend her season by one week to accommodate my need for lodging for almost three complete weeks.
I found the accommodations very consistent with the listing details and the pictures of the unit. The unit was very comfortable and the area was very quiet and peaceful. If I am in the area again, I would certainly try to stay in the cottage.
We just spent two nights on the Sheepscott river in Penny's wonderful cottage!- photos were exactly accurate - clean and and spotless !
We had wonderful scenery , sunsets and a spectacular moon set ( I get up early). This was a perfect area to discover mid-coast Maine.
We did walk to the Edgecomb Fort and also walked across the Wiscassett Bridge (separate walking lane) to great lobster at Sprague's.
Penny was quick to respond to any and all questions we had , and information was found in the cottage to help plan our days. We did not meet Penny,, but had no problems at all finding her cottage. All went very smoothly and we now have wonderful memories of this special area. Thanks Penny!
We loved this adorable cottage right on the Sheepscot River. It's decorated adorably and almost makes you feel like you're in a boathouse. Warm welcoming feel, lovely sunsets, in acute community situated across from Wiscasset. Wish our plans had allowed us to stay longer!
This cottage has a great location. It was spotless and comfortable. Here's some information for specific interests:
Kitchen: there is no stove or range in the cottage. The very basic kitchen has a refrigerator, hot plate, microwave, and toaster oven. Plan your meals accordingly
Bed: the bed was quite comfortable, and I have a very fussy back.
Penny provided maps and other information about the area, and she was very communicative during the reservation process. We were very happy to find a place that allows us to bring our dog. This place is a really great value and we were so happy to discover it! We hope to come back next year for a longer visit
I'm so thrilled to have found and stayed at the cottage. It is easily accessible from the main road yet right on the water providing peace and serenity. I loved waking up with view of the river! The cottage is just across the bridge from cafes, eateries, and great antique shops.
Penny wasn't able to meet us at check in but she provided clear directions so getting in was a breeze. The cottage was tastefully decorated and spotless with abundance of towels and unbeatable water pressure. The bed was very comfortable as well. I absolutely loved staying there and can't wait to return again!
The host was accessible and helpful. The cottage was clean and spacious. The bathroom was well equipped and the pull-out couch was fine. The photos were accurate. It is a pretty location on the water. However, the description of the cottage having a kitchenette is misleading. There is no stove or oven, merely a small hot plate and almost no counter space. This was too bad as there was a very nice eating space looking out on the water. Also, Rte 1, a very busy road from 5 a.m. to sunset, is within sight of the cottage so traffic noise can be heard, especially when windows are open.
We had a wonderful experience staying at Penny's cottage. It was clean, nicely furnished and conveniently located. Beautiful views of the river & easy access to the Boothbay region. Penny was responsive and easy to deal with. We hope to be able to stay at the cottage again.
My wife and I stayed here for one night in August 2014 the night of wedding before departing for our honeymoon.
Penny was very helpful from the start and made it clear that we could reach out to her if we had any questions before or during our stay. Gaining access to the cottage was very easy as it's controlled by a keypad. The cottage itself was clean, cozy, and right on the water.
We had a great experience here and would recommend the cottage to anyone considering staying in the area! We loved the spot so much that we might end up coming back another summer!
I was very pleased with this cottage on the Sheepscot River! The view from the front porch was amazing and we witnessed two great sunsets while eating our dinner! Penny responded to our emails promptly and left clear instructions about how to get there and things to do in the area. The house was very clean when we got there too. In order to get into the village of Wiscasset we just walked across the bridge (about ten minutes) and were able to access antique stores, seafood places, and coffee shops. The neighborhood is quiet and very family friendly. My parents slept in the bedroom and I used the pull-out couch (which as far as pull-outs go is really not too bad). We even stayed in and cooked using the hotplate, which was not a hassle at all. Overall, me and my folks were very pleased with this cozy get away for our weekend vacation.
The listing was exactly as presented-- perfectly lovely!
