Beautiful, unique stay in such a great part of Charleston. You feel like you're in the woods a million miles away from anything but it's a quick drive to everything and anything you'd want to do. Plus, the hosts were fantastic, kind people. Very recommended stay!!
I was looking to take my husband on a surprise vacation and looking for something unique and fun. Alan and his wife were friendly and welcoming. The cabin was unique, clean, and comfortable. Thanks for a great stay!
Alan and his wife are really sweet. Alan is quite a ham and really makes you feel comfortable immediately. The house is really an amazing piece of craftsmanship. The bed is super comfy and it's really like having your own little suite upstairs. The hot tub made our stay really perfect!
We had a great time in Charleston, in no small part thanks to Alan's hosting. The cabin is located in a secluded suburb of Charleston and a car is a must. Fully furnished in antiques, including some very cool cedar pieces, the house provided a very comfortable respite from our daily adventures. Their dog Spanky was adorable. Can't recommend the property enough.
We really enjoyed our stay in Alan & Elizabeth's log cabin. They are very hospitable, friendly people. They offered us coffee in the morning, the use of their kitchen, and even cereal or something if we wanted it. The place is super clean, unique, rustic, serene, and full of antiques. Do understand, as they say in their listing, that they also live in the home, so you will see them sometimes in the downstairs communal areas (living room, dining room, kitchen). But that being said, they are very respectful of your privacy and will not come upstairs while you are there. The queen-sized bed is very comfortable (we didn't use the twin bed in the loft). The only real problem we had was the internet connection. They use a "hotspot" that only gave us a sketchy connection at best. But unless you're on a business trip in which you need a good connection, that shouldn't be much of a problem. Just relax, enjoy the beautiful gated seclusion, and interact with two great people at their beautiful haven in the woods!
The host was very welcoming and left coffee ready for us in the mornings which was much appreciated.
The house is one of a kind and the hot tub is brilliant.
The area is quiet. The uber service is great. We only had to wait 5 mins for an uber and it cost 18$ for a 25 min drive to downtown Charleston.
Hosts with the most! Just can't make up my mind what was better - the hand built cabin itself, the history within it or feeling like family immediately. From the moment we drove into this hidden little paradise we knew we wouldn't want to leave. Alan and Elizabeth were so rad, fun-loving, welcoming and accommodating to say the very least. The lantern lit porch - where we sat and watched the rain... the frogs and crickets singing and keeping us company as we walked the grounds barefoot... the perfectly smelling and sounding wood home breathing as we fell asleep and awoke... the plush towels and comfortable bed better than a 5 star hotel and oh yeah - the coolest new friends that felt like old friends...... lets just say we didn't end up venturing far from our little cabin.
We loved our stay in Charleston, and Alan and Elizabeth were fantastic hosts! Their home was exactly as described, and our room and bathroom were private, and perfect: clean, homely, and the bed was really comfortable.
Alan and Elizabeth were generous with their time, stopping to chat on the porch; and generous with their space, offering the use of their kitchen, their washer and dryer, and sending us off with a punnet of blueberries when we departed.
Thank you so very much, both!
Alan and his wife made us feel welcomed when we arrived and while we stayed with them. If you like a house made out of nothing but wood, this is the place for you. The house is full of original toys and items from their families past. They will show and inform you of their history.
