We own a boutique day spa in a tiny little town. We are committed to taking care of people!
Cheryl's place is wonderful. Exactly as pictured on the web. We had a wonderful time there and would love to go back sometime in the future!
We had a wonderful stay. The place was beautiful - smelled lovely, well-decorated, and thoughtfully furnished. It's listed as sleeping 4 but they have a trundle bed in the closet and the sofas could probably even sleep another 1-2. The place is up a flight of stairs from the backyard, mind you, but that's hardly an inconvenience. And I must add: the whole joint was *spotless*.
It's roughly a half-mile off the local highway, US Rt 20, and right on Main St of Sharon Springs. Next door is a pretty good restaurant (204 Main), across the street is the Black Cat cafe that makes passable breakfast (but takes *forever* even when it's not busy!), and various minor landmarks are nearby.
Cheryl was a delight the entire time. Asked us in advance about supplies for morning coffee, showed up our first morning with free muffins, cleaned whatever we asked, and even lent us some beach chairs when we had that oddball request. To suit our late-night arrival, she left the unit unlocked and the keys within. She accommodated a fairly wacky schedule we had to keep on our day of check-out. And on our way out, she kept our suitcases in her spa offices downstairs so that we didn't have to leave them (rather exposed to theft) in our car, kinda like a hotel's left-luggage closet, and gave us some free sodas just to be nice. It was almost over-the-top hospitality, frankly.
Despite the town being roughly in the middle of nowhere, my city-dweller, neat-freak wife remarked that we ought to try to go back sometime. That's really the highest praise I could give.
The listing was accurate and Cheryl and Craig were super helpful getting us acquainted with the area. I had a few questions before getting there and they promptly answered them. While we were there they informed us that the fridge wasn't working - which I hadn't noticed - and they quickly delivered a new (smaller) one for our few days in the apt. The wifi was a little unstable but once we found the perfect location we were able to use their apple tv without issue. The entire area is limited for phone use so I guess that goes with the territory. It's a great location between many interesting towns - Cooperstown and Saratoga are both close enough for day trips. We had a great time and the bed is SUPER comfortable.
Staying at the Spring House Spa was one of the best travel experiences that I've had. The loft was large, beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The spa downstairs is convenient. I was taking my husband on a surprise trip to Cooperstown for his birthday and booked him a massage as a birthday present. It felt like we were at a luxury hotel, only better. If we're in the area again, we wouldn't hesitate to book the loft. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely overnight at Upstairs@ Spring House Spa! The apartment is impeccably clean, tastefully appointed with a blend of antiques and contemporary furnishings, and spacious yet cozy with a gas fireplace and comfy couches. The bedroom is so relaxing, in a soothing yellow with a very comfortable bed and lovely bedding. Really a treat. And the refinished wide-planked floors are gorgeous.
We were in Sharon Springs for about 24 hours and loved it: had dinner at the bistro next door and brunch at the American Hotel. Shopped on main street and walked to see the historic markers up the road, and the remnants of the bathhouses and large hotels tat populated the are in the late nineteenth and early 20th century.
The hosts were easy to communicate with, attentive but not intrusive, and very thoughtful, like making sure we had wine glasses upstairs. I highly recommend!
Thank you so much Tara! We'd love to have you as guests again anytime.
Cheryl was/is warm and inviting and her BNB is just the same. The relaxing smell of lavender (my fave) lures you into a tranquil state of mind. The apartment is spacious and cozy at the same time. It has all you need to make an entire meal or just a cup of coffee. The linens and toiletries are decadent, yet you feel completely at home. The space has a pulse, like the whole town of Sharon Springs. You hear the story/history as you walk in the door. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
