We loved this cute place in New Orleans. It was clean, comfortable, and had the perfect neighborhood feel we wanted while visiting. This place was true to the listing, and our host graciously supplied us with great recommendations for the city. We would be happy to stay there again.
The description of the space was exactly as Gary provided. My wife and I did meet Gary as we were moving in, and then did not see him again. As was how he described the level of interaction we should expect. He was very courteous, and offered many helpful suggestions for getting to and from many of the popular areas of the city. There were maps and brochures available to offer suggestions for activities, and directions on how to get around.
I would highly recommend staying here. it is off the beaten path ( as described) but the neighborhood was quiet and we felt perfectly safe. There is a great little coffee shop within walking distance ( CC's) which offered great coffee, pastries and breakfast sandwiches. The four poster bed in the "master bedroom" was cozy and plush.
Gary, our host, messaged us before we arrived to let us know how to get into the house, and the house was EXACTLY as pictured when we arrived - clean, gorgeous, and there are tons of thoughtful tips for how to work wonky furniture, how to not be inconsiderate to the neighbors, etc. It was exactly the kind of information that you'd give to a friend staying at your own place from out of town, and we immediately felt like we could navigate the space well with that information. The house was well regulated by the space heater and air conditioner, and, as Gary knows, it's located in our dream neighborhood, so we were just thrilled getting to walk everywhere. We didn't rent a car for that reason (and Uber has newly arrived to the city and works great here), but I always saw plenty of parking on the block during our stay.
I highly recommend Gary's Airbnb, both to Nola expats coming back for a visit and for out-of-town vacationers. If you're not from New Orleans, you'll really see what this city has to offer if you stay here!!
It was great to have a chance to sleep in a traditional New Orleans' shotgun house. The house had almost everything you need (apart from a washing machine, but a good laundry place is very close). Very good AC ( a bit loud), internet is ok, a few good places to eat close by. The location was good with the proximity of park and 25-30 mins walk to the French District. Gary was helpful and nice, he was responding quickly. He left a map and some additional NOLA information at home.
Good value for money, would come back :)
Thank you again for hosting my friends for Voodoo. Unfortunately the event was cancelled the last day and the Saturday of event was a water logged day. But the guys really did like the place and would be happy to rent the place again. They had a great experience all the way around. Again, thank you.
Gary's house is comfortable and really full of character - just what we like!
It was really helpful to have a few supplies too (tea, coffee etc) as we were staying too short a time to buy them. Particularly nice to have a real teapot!
The house is in a very interesting part of the city architecturally.
We took a bus into the centre one time, walked to the lovely nearby park and also we walked into the centre (despite a warning from a neighbour not to walk through this neighbourhood) - beautiful houses with some lovely detailing - worth doing!
tank you gary! the charming house is nice and clean. the neighborhood was really fabulous and kind. close to bus and easy parking.
I had contacted Gary and let him know when we would be arriving. He told me where to find the key and everything was as he said. The neighborhood was nice and quiet. The bed was fabulous (I have to go buy one of those foam pads) We had a car and had no issues with parking.
Gary was very helpful with local places to eat.
We had a great stay at Gary's place. It was exactly as described - very spacious and also very clean, equipped with everything we needed. The neighbourhood is nice and you can easily walk to some cafés and restaurants. A bus stop is also conveniently located close-by. We met Gary briefly on the day we left and learned some more interesting things about the historic buildings in New Orleans.
We would definitely recommend staying at Gary's place if you're looking for an authentic experience.
This was my first Airbnb experience and I really enjoyed it. The home was beautiful and quite spacious. There were multiple clean towels and pillows.
We were able to walk for breakfast and coffee in the mornings and took Ubers to the French Quarter and back. Depending on where we were going in the French Quarter and the time of day, Ubers ranged from $9 to $15.
It was a great pleasure to meet and talk with Gary. We very much appreciated hosting him and learning so much more about the interesting developments in New Orleans, his great knowledge of all the quality food. A wonderful joyful person to hang around with.
He and his travel partners have kept the apartment in a very good condition and we really enjoyed hosting Gary and his "crew". Let's hope there is a chance to meet again during some Slow-fish event or in any other occasion.
Great guest, took great care of the house. Welcome back any time.
Gary was an excellent guest! Great to chat with, neat, friendly, and considerate. Highly recommended!
