You are going to love Portland. It is a great place to relax outside, window shop, watch a film, read, cook, or for trying something new out on the water! Our roots run deep in coastal tradition and you'll be hard pressed to find a more beautiful place than Maine in the summer! If you are looking for an autumn or winter get away Maine affords lots to do outdoors: skiing, snowboarding, ice fishing, ice skating, cross country skiing!
We are married, both full time working folks. Stacey is a Nurse and Arthur is a teacher. We love cooking meals and lean towards paleo/primal lifestyle. Stacey has some food allergies so we avoid sugar and grain when we cook for ourselves but when we travel we try to experience as much local food as possible! Arthur loves Premier League Soccer. Stacey loves painting, reading and photography. We both love dogs and we have one so if you visit us you must be pet friendly. Overall, we enjoy independent, curious, tidy and tolerant folks who have a good joke or a good recipe to share.
Stacey was born and raised in Portland and her family roots here in Maine go back nearly 300 years. Stacey has lived all over, most recently Ireland. Arthur is from London but has traded his accent for New England frugality. Together we have an idea of some pretty cool places in Maine to explore and we'd love to tell you about them! Our house is a charming 1920's bungalow that we've been lovingly fixing up and filling with art, photos and damn good food. In the summer we use our back garden for relaxing, bonfires and cooking on the grill. We live just outside of the city and Portland's downtown districts are only a quick bike ride, bus ride or taxi jaunt away. Downtown you will find music, food, art and shopping! Its a lot of fun for a little city.
As guests, we prefer a relaxed environment where we get to know people but also have privacy and the much needed downtime we need from our everyday responsibilities. We really don't like to disappoint anyone so we prefer flexibility when we travel and hate it when people fuss over us. We are dependable, very tidy, and respectful of your space and hope for the same in return. We tend to be the light-packing wanderlust types. As hosts, we prefer to be a resource for all that is Portland and Maine and provide you with a laid back and friendly place to relax at the end of the day! We have a few guest rules specific to our rescue pup, so folks that can help us out by following some simple guidelines are always welcome to stay.
Come visit Portland! We can't wait to meet you and learn about your adventures!
