Hi All! We're a couple in Williamsburg Brooklyn with a great place. Check it out!
This was our first experience and my comments are the same as those of Koen D(I think we were there sharing one night). It was a surprise about the cleaning, especially reading the previous reviews. The location is fantastic and the price you pay too, however the rest of the house could be cleaner and before they must warn about the dog.
This was my worst Airbnb experience so far.
Plus: the location, super close to the L Bedford stop and right in the middle of Williamsburg, the price (cheap for NY), the room was quite clean.
Minus: the rest of the house could be cleaner. There is a small dog living in the house (kept most of the time in a cage). We had the impression Charlis never let the dog out, so she did everything in the appartment. She even watered on our shoes when we walked in. There was a towel with big yellow stains lying around on the floor. It seems this is quite a contrast with all the rest of Charlis reviews. We think that maybe she had a bad week or something.
You couldn't ask for a better location! Nice room and a good bed. No fuzz and relaxed atmosphere.
It should be noted to whom it might concern that there's also a small dog living in the apartment (not in the room).
Even though you can close the door, there is a hole in the wall between the two bedrooms, which enables the heater to warm up both rooms, and thereby also lets all sounds transit.
So for full privacy rent the whole the apartment.
I contacted the host a few days in advance before coming with no response. I tried phone, email and AIRBNB site. Finally I just cancelled the reservation and was about to be stranded in NYC the next two nights. The host got back with me once I cancelled at 3am saying something about phone was lost and she was ready to host me the next day. This was my red flag but I ignored it. Charlis has a poodle dog. The dog is cute but was barking a lot. Also, she keeps the dog in the bathroom sink with door closed for some reason. One night we came home and the dog startled my friend upon entering the bathroom. The host had a couple staying in one room and me and my friend in the other. Somehow the host also crashed in this tiny place, on the tiny couch, nestled in between the dog cage and the kitchen table. We felt awkward in the space and the hygiene was not up to our standards. The apartment is very small with one tiny bathroom that was shared between 5 people, a dog and the second night a sixth person. The space is located in the middle of the action of Bedford Ave in Williamsburg. It’s an unbeatable spot and we had a lot of fun in the area. However the place we stayed is not for everyone.
This is a great place if you are just looking for a bed to crash in. Charlis is really easy going and the location is superb. I stayed in the small room where the lack of privacy may be an issue for some people. But if that is the case then you can always go for the private room. Thanks Charlis...
after a very delicate debut where we didn't feel quite expected nor welcomed as we hoped we would be, everything turned relatively well
williamsburg/brooklyn is a great area to stay though
we consider it a 3 star worth
Didn't have an experience. Host canceled my reservation 10 days before arrival but I landed on my feet running, er stumbling. The snoring in the place I ended up was something else, so grab this place if you can get it.
nice apartment in a great location! thank you.
Nice apartment, nice price, perfect location! The room was wonderful, and the hosting was generous (I loved the breakfast!). I would definitely stay here again.
The host canceled my reservation 32 days before arrival.
