We very warmly welcome although we arrived later than initially planned(we had let our host know of the delay). The house is a gem literally everything in the house is exquisitely tasteful. It is extremely cosy and quite roomy. It is the Family Home I wish I had with plenty of souvenirs and interesting books from all over the world! There is just one inconvenience: it is the box plant nearby that s working day and night and sometimes smelly. But the house itself is so wonderful that you soon forget about it and you do not hear the noise from the inside. I would recommend this home to anyone who feels like a peaceful retreat.
Thanks, Sylvie! We're glad you enjoyed your stay.
The house was perfect! We loved the Florida room and spent a lot of time there playing cards and chess. We used the bikes and were able to bike all the way to the fort on the beach which was really fun. The house was super comfortable and bigger than we imagined. It is beautifully decorated and well equipped. The weather was great so we ate lunch most days on the porch. We went to a plantation and had many great meals in town. We loved that there was no TV! We would definitely recommend renting this house and only have positive things to say. We would love to come back with the grandparents.
Thanks Sarah, we would love to host you again at the Lady Amelia!!!
My new wife and I spent our honeymoon at The Lady Amelia. It was a great experience and we couldn't have picked a more relaxed and gorgeous house to do so. Highly recommend staying here!
Julia's house was a lovely retreat for my family this spring. It's quiet, with lots of room to spend time together and to retreat away for naps, reading, etc. Everything was well organized and easy to use. We would definitely recommend it to others.
Thanks, Stephanie! We would love to host you again at the Lady Amelia!
We were well taken care of at this amazingly decorated and renovated locale. Staying at Lady Amelia feels like a true privilege--the decor is inspiring and the surrounds are calming. Our hosts did a fine job of making sure everything was in working order and that we knew how to work everything.
Thank you, Michele! We would love to host you again in the future!
We were greeted as promised by the property manager who showed us around and answered our questions. Perhaps we had higher hopes for this home based on the photos and the fact that it was featured in Jacksonville Magazine. You can absolutely tell that the home was renovated with a great eye for design and a lot of love. However, it currently feels like a musty house that might belong to an older Aunt. The outdoor shower was dirty, the screens torn, the out door furniture was full of mildew and/or dusty, the hammock was torn and unusable, the interior slipcovers were stained, the bed in the loft area smelled kind of funky. The bicycles that are listed are rusty and have flat tires and the 2 kayaks are down to 1 - with no paddle. And if you are not familiar with this part of Amelia Island , there is a box factory a few blocks away that is very evident - a low hum of noise and an ever present scent. Would I recommend this property - it all depends on expectations. We looked a the photos and were very excited. It is not a bad house - just not what we thought we were getting....
The Lady Amelia is a beautiful house. We loved spending time there. The hosts were very accommodating with check in. The house was quite tidy and beautiful. We had a wonderful time there, and hope you will too.
Thanks, Cathy! We're glad you enjoyed your stay!
The Lady Amelia is a thoughtfully designed house with tons of charm & character. The house is huge & has lots of great spots to hang out in. Perfect for a group of friends or a family. I wish it would have been warmer during our stay, as we would have enjoyed one of the many screened in porches more. We were able to enjoy the fireplace on one of the chillier nights.
I didn't really know anything about Amelia Island or the area before booking a last minute trip with my mom. The history of the island & neighborhood is really interesting & I found myself imagining what the area looked like 100's of years ago. A few things to know. The house is not within walking distance to restaurants & the smell from the paper mill can be strong at times.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended the boat tour that takes you along the coast of Amelia Island & over to Cumberland Island.
Mark was great - gave us lots of info on the area - the burger joint was great! The house was lovely and very comfortable - the location was a little more remote than we thought (hoping for walking distance to downtown) but we did enjoy time on the wonderful large porches.
I am a book lover and enjoyed all the books in the home!
Julia and her husband Wally are interesting persons, with an active life and a great attitude.
