We spent a lovely week with our three adult children at Lady Amelie. The house is full of character, very spacious and beautifully decorated. It felt like our home away from home. The kitchen is small but very well equipped. We used the two fire places in the kitchen and living room which added even more coziness during the holiday season. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood in the historical district. It's a 5 min drive from the beach and downtown Fernandina. It was also nice to be able to use the bikes. It's a very nice place to relax and to escape....I would certainly recommend this place. We really enjoyed or stay.
Thanks, Marie-Helene. Please come back again!
We really enjoyed staying at the Lady Amelie. The home was spacious and well appointed. We particularly enjoyed the fireplaces in the kitchen and living room--early December can be cool in Florida. They added to the coziness of the common rooms. The house is situated in an historical district and is close Fernandina Beach which was convenient.
Thanks Patrick for your kind review!
Thank you so much for letting us stay at your lovely home. Attention to detail at every turn, from the patio areas, gardens, the screened in porches and every room in the house. The Lady Amelia is truly a gem.

My wife, my two daughters (3 & 7 YO) and the two grandmas just returned from a great trip to Amelia Island, made all the better for the fantastic accommodation in Lady Amelia. We could not ask for a more perfect setting, full of character in a perfect location. We loved it all, from the birds waking you up in the morning, to the frogs sending you to bed at night.
We all enjoyed our stay at Lady Amelia, there is plenty of rooms for the entire family, laid out in such a way that it is very functional! My wife appreciate the gas stove and outdoor grill and also the Vitamix for our daily green smoothie, the kids took over the sleep-in attic that looks over the family room, the AC was perfect at night, and also the outdoor hot water shower was priceless when coming back from the beach, and there is a swing across the street, near the marine, that the kids loved!
We knew we were heading to an old cozy house, full of character and with very well chosen décor, we also understand it is very difficult to maintain and keep pristine this enormous house, we did see some bugs, some cobwebs, and dust bunnies, but we enjoyed every minute of our experience here.
The house is an easy drive to North Beach, which we visit daily, also to Downtown Fernandina, which we checked out twice for ice-cream, and minutes away from Fort Clinch and the Fishing Pier that you must do at least once. The Lady Amelia will provide you with a perfect sample of Florida history and a taste of what these areas were all about. We would highly recommended it to anyone that values the past and is looking to relax and get away.
We had a wonderful time at The Lady Amelia and feel like we have found our Fernandina home! The was just as described in the listing. The kitchen was small, but very usable. And since it butts up to a lounge-like family room, it all felt very open. We ate every meal out on the wraparound porch and miss it already.
Ladies Street is very quiet and abandoned. I think there are currently only three houses on the entire street. But it's very historical. It used to be the main street in Old Town of Fernandina Beach. We really enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and randomly stumbling upon Villa Villeulla (only one block away!).
This house is not for those that need to be connected. There are no TVs. Cell service is spotty at best and the wifi is pretty darn fickle. But if your goal is to escape, this is your place. We can't wait to come back!
We had a great stay the The Lady Amelia. Its in a quiet historic part of town, and the house was restored very nicely. And you could tell it was decorated by someone who really cared for it.
It was just my husband and me in this huge house so we probably did not take full advantage of all the space. But the kitchen was well equipped, there were bikes that my husband was able to spruce up so we could ride around, and the washer and dryer on site was a nice perk on a beach trip.
I am guessing a house that big in Florida requires constant upkeep, so take this for what you will... The screened in porch furniture was turning moldy from the moisture coming in from the rain. There was was just 2 of us so there were plenty of chairs sans mold, but I imagine a larger group may be bit uncomfortable.
Overall we had a great visit.
Beautiful home nestled on a quiet street. Impeccably decorated. 5 minute drive from the beach and downtown Amelia Island. Highly recommended for a beach getaway.
We loved our stay at the Lady Amelia. The home is thoughtfully designed, spacious yet cozy - it feels like a home away from home. We were 2 adults and 3 teens and had plenty of space. The kids enjoyed spending time in the back sun room with the loft and studio, while the adults could retreat to the living area, porch or 3rd floor master suite. We had all the amenities we needed and also enjoyed extras we had not expected, such as an outdoor shower, 3 bikes, beach chairs and boogie boards.
The house was tidy when we arrived. It is an old home, so there are some dust bunnies and occasional insects. The porch table and furniture needed a bit of wiping down before we could use it. There is opportunity to sleep on the upstairs screened porch, however these beds appeared stacked away for the season, so you may need to request to have these set up if you're interested in using it as a sleeping porch.
The neighborhood is quiet and the house is located right across from a sleepy marina. There is the sound of the paper mill in the background, but the home is situated on the northernmost street of the Historic District and surrounded by trees, so this helps to muffle the sound. You can enjoy a bit of a view of both the sunrise and sunset from the front porch. The beach was a short drive away, as is the main street of Fernandina - also accessible by bike. We enjoyed riding bikes down to the coffee shop one morning.
The hosts are very responsive, kind and helpful. We would recommend to anyone and look forward to returning. Thank you!
We had an amazing week at the lovely Lady Amelia. The home is beyond beautifully decorated and incredibly spacious. We enjoyed the screened porches in the evenings for our dinners and wine and rode bikes to Fort Clinch beach during the day. We also visited Cumberland island by boat at the docks just across the way... Old town is very close and charming. It was the first vacation we have done without technology for the kids- no iPads, phones, computers or TV (which the house does not have, but wifi is available) and we really were able to fully enjoy each other and the laid back lifestyle around us. The Lady Amelia gave us an artistic and comfortable space to read and play games with our children and love every minute of it! We hope to return next year!
