The place is wonderful and our hosts (Lucy and Fernando) are amazing Costa Rican people, incredibly friendly and honest. Marcos wasn't around but he responded promptly to all our questions and requests. We loved that! The house is big enough, comfortable, super clean, much nicer than in the pictures. Lucy was super attentive and gave a nice touch to our stay there. The "garden" is amazing. You have a good sense of really being in the jungle, because you are. The house has great privacy even with Lucy and Fernando living very close. They provide a constant feeling of safety around, which is great if you are coming with children or alone. Fernando knows a lot about the area, because they have been living in Manzanillo for 40 years! He knows how everything have changed and they love to share this with you, if you are curious. You need to speak some Spanish, because they don't speak english, but well that is the reason you go to a foreign country right, to challenge yourself and make friends with local people.
The house was well equipped and beautifully situated in the jungle. The grounds were lovely and we especially loved meeting and talking with the guardians Lucy and Jacamo who were very helpful. Lovely and quiet place close to the beach.
Great hidden gem on the road less traveled in Costa Rica. Very large space surrounded by lush jungle. Sat on the back porch for hours watching monkeys, toucans and all sorts of other birds. The sounds are mesmerizing from both birds and howler monkeys. Shower is awesome, large kitchen, and bathroom is more than adequate. Caretakers on site were wonderful and friendly. Large gate...felt very safe. Rode their bikes to town and incredible beach just down the street. Would definitely return.......
Our experience here was perfect. We were met by the groundskeeper and given the keys and even suggestions of where to eat. The place itself is great, with all the amenities you may need. We never cooked, though, because the food in the area was so good. It was so cool, too, to hear the howler monkeys in the middle of the night or to be visited by a toucan in the back porch. I love Manzanillo!
We stayed at Marco's jungle house for 5 nights and it was the best accommodation in the whole of our 2 week holiday in Costa Rica. It's very close to the main road which is a plus especially if it rains or if you want to walk to the beach, but at the same time you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere.
The house is much better than it looks in the pictures. It's not cluttered but had everything we needed for our stay. Really loved the storage between the bedrooms, it meant that our 4 suitcases were not all over the floor as it usually happens.
We would wake up really early (jet lag!) to the sound of howler monkeys and torrential rain (you're in the rainforest here), sit on the porch, lay in the hammock, have breakfast and head out to the beach (Manzanillo or Punta Uva - you can literally park your car on the beach here) or the Jaguar Rescue Centre (you can get really close to sloths here - in the wild they're usually too far to have a closer look) or Cahuita National Park. We also did "Caribeans chocolate tour" - one of the highlights of our holiday.
Puerto Viejo offers lots of food options and the road leading to Manzanillo is dotted with cute little places, but El Refugio (which is very close to the property) is a real gem. It's on the expensive side but the food and the setting is amazing, only open for dinner. Ignore the good reviews and don't bother with Maxi's in Manzanillo - too overpriced for what it has to offer.
One last piece of advice if you haven't been here before - clothes and towels don't dry here. There is a local couple living by the gate who offer laundry service (we paid $5 for a huge pile of clothes). We had clean, dry and folded clothes back within hours.
All in all - we had an amazing experience here. It was a long journey to get there from London but definitely worth it!
The house is much better than advertised. You should take the deal. Guillermo (the administrator), Lucy and Jacamo (the caretakers) are easygoing and courteous people.
Its really close to Manzanillo beach but we would recommend you to go past Maxi's and the river (walk thru it) for the best spots.
Marco was very interested in getting us there and very worried about details in the address.
We leave with good memories, vibes, and no regrets at all. Of you book here rest assure that it's the best option.

This house is a LOT nicer than what you see in the pictures. It was truly a surprise! The house is very airy and open, big windows, open ceiling... Everything from the gate, the entrance to the house and especially the deck and the surroundings are just beautiful. The rooms might be a bit small for some, but you're not gonna be spending much time indoors anyways when you have such an amazing beach as Manzanillo just a few blocks away. The walk-in closet is quite big and nice, dividing the rooms and leading to the toilet and shower. The shower head and water pressure is delicious! The kitchen and living room is one big open area. The fridge could be bigger, but it's alright. The nicest thing about this place is definitely the gardens and the wooden deck, just amazing scenery! Very quiet and private. Beach, supermarket, restaurants, snorkel equipment and kayak rent, all just a few blocks away!
We had a wonderful stay in this house, very clean with a lot of space and very quiet.
I'd recommend this house and Manzanillo is a beautiful place !
My family and I had an exceptional time at Marco's jungle house near the beach. We only spent two days there but it was perfect in every way. Aside from a miscue with the caretakers phone number everything went smooth and worked well. The nearby town of Manzanillo is small and friendly. A local restaurant owner helped us find the house . Fernando (the caretaker) and his wife Lucy , were welcoming and generous.
The house looked brand new and was very clean. Great design and layout. The Jungle Deck is a magical place. Very comfortable and a perfect spot to view monkeys and all kinds of jungle plants and animals.
Clean, safe, secure and well maintained.
