We are a 25 acre garden in a semitropical paradise located on the banks of Lake Peigneur.
We absolutely loved our experience here. The Cottage was in a great location with the gardens right in the backyard and the host was very nice and accommodating. The back patio area was out favorite, the atmosphere was so relaxing. It was everything we hoped for and more! I highly recommend Cooks Cottage.
We loved Cook's Cottage. The place was really easy to find, it was secluded and quiet. We had a guard peacock as well who patrolled the front of the house all night (quietly). The little house is very spacious with a huge bed and bathroom and a living area. It was absolutely perfect. Our only regret was that we didn't plan to stay there longer. It was just supposed to be a stop over on our way to New Orleans. But the gardens are absolutely stunning and we wish we had had more time to enjoy them.
We absolutely loved our stay! The rooms were lovely, clean and quiet. The staff was amazing, always asking how to make our stay better. Food and wine was well stocked and we really enjoyed having the place to ourselves in the evening. Amazing visit!
Cook Cottage is one of the few BnB houses inside the Rip Van Winkle Gardens, a complementary visit to the garden and the famouse Jeffersson house is included in the deal. Both the garden and the Cook Cottage are good.
There is a restaurant inside the garden(just behind the gift shop) serving authentic lunch. So do not expect to find breakfast and dinner restaurants within 10 min driving distance because the Rip Van Winkle Gardens is quite far from nearby villages and communities (the nearest restaurants and markets are some 10 min drive away).
By the way we have not met the host, the advice we got the other day was from the ticketing office of the garden.
I felt very welcome, and everything was exactly as the host said it would be. The grounds are wonderful to wander around, and the little B&B space was cute and comfortable. I would certainly come again.
Super adorable place. Perfect for a relaxing weekend/get away. Perfect for two people. It was very quiet, even w/ all the birds. I would highly recommend. Check in & check out were super easy & straight forward. We were bummed we couldn't enjoy the cafe (we left before it opened). Gardens were gorgeous though.
Staying at the Rip Van Winkle Gardens was wonderful and the property just as beautiful as described. The Cook's Cottage was charming. It was spotless and completely stocked with both expected and nice extra amenities. The staff is outstanding and everyone, from housekeeping to tour guides to gift shop employees, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
We were also impressed with how well run the entire organization is. We would definitely highly recommend staying here.
We had a lovely stay. The servant quarter is just amazing. Seeing peacocks from your bedroom window was wonderful. Excellent communication before our stay. And the gardens are gorgeous.
The host canceled this reservation 6 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Rip Van Winkle Gardens is an enchanting place to stay. Cook's Cottsge is a "home away from home". The cottage is absolutely beautiful, and the amenities that they provide is beyond any expectation. We would go back in a heartbeat. The peacocks are beautiful. The gardens are gorgeous. We wish we could have stayed longer than just 3 days. The food at the cafe is absolutely delicious. We loved the short film in the theater, our tour of the Jefferson home, the gift shop, and the staff we met along the way.
Thank tiu, and we look forward to staying with you again.
