We are a 25 acre garden in a semitropical paradise located on the banks of Lake Peigneur.
I felt very welcome, and everything was exactly as the host said it would be. The grounds are wonderful to wander around, and the little B&B space was cute and comfortable. I would certainly come again.
Super adorable place. Perfect for a relaxing weekend/get away. Perfect for two people. It was very quiet, even w/ all the birds. I would highly recommend. Check in & check out were super easy & straight forward. We were bummed we couldn't enjoy the cafe (we left before it opened). Gardens were gorgeous though.
Staying at the Rip Van Winkle Gardens was wonderful and the property just as beautiful as described. The Cook's Cottage was charming. It was spotless and completely stocked with both expected and nice extra amenities. The staff is outstanding and everyone, from housekeeping to tour guides to gift shop employees, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
We were also impressed with how well run the entire organization is. We would definitely highly recommend staying here.
We had a lovely stay. The servant quarter is just amazing. Seeing peacocks from your bedroom window was wonderful. Excellent communication before our stay. And the gardens are gorgeous.

Rip Van Winkle Gardens is an enchanting place to stay. Cook's Cottsge is a "home away from home". The cottage is absolutely beautiful, and the amenities that they provide is beyond any expectation. We would go back in a heartbeat. The peacocks are beautiful. The gardens are gorgeous. We wish we could have stayed longer than just 3 days. The food at the cafe is absolutely delicious. We loved the short film in the theater, our tour of the Jefferson home, the gift shop, and the staff we met along the way.
Thank tiu, and we look forward to staying with you again.

They did a great job communicating with us! Welcomed us when we arrived and everything was ready. Very friendly and told us everything we needed to know! This was our favorite place to stay. The photos do not even do it justice. It is so peaceful and comfortable! The tub and bubble bath were amazing, the bed and bedding divine. The snacks and wine an added plus. Just could go on and on... we loved the gardens and home tour as well and lunch there was delicious! thanks for a wonderful relaxing stay, wish it were longer!
The Servants' Quarters were the perfect place for a quiet getaway, or in our case, a base to explore Cajun Country. The grounds are beautiful, we enjoyed morning and evening strolls and the herb garden, in which the cottage is situated, is a wonderful place to enjoy morning coffee.
Absolutely perfect! The grounds are stunning, the room is very well appointed & the staff was amazingly friendly!! We cannot wait to come back!...Thank you for such a wonderful visit.
This place is amazing! We lived here for two nights with our son 11 months old. The cottage was beautiful and the refrigerator filled with whine, lots of drinks and snack, cheese, breakfast. Perfect.
The staff was very helpful and welcoming but still respected the privacy so we were very much on our own. They helped us two nights with ordering food from Dominos Pizza which was perfect so that we didn't needed to drive away during the evening since we spent the days exploring Avery island.
To be able to walk within the gardens after closing time 5 pm was magic. The whole garden for our selves. This was one of the best places we have stayed at ever. And it gave a true southern feeling with a little twist with some special plants and trees. Peacocks walking by the porch, also saw some raccoons, armadillo and beautiful hummingbirds.
Highly recommend it!
