It was nice. Cute family
Pham and Perfume and the rest of the family is great. They were really helpful and so generous with their time and food.
The room is basic and dated, but clean and you get your own bathroom with hot water. Works fine for sleeping and cleaning up.
Perfume can also help with organizing tours or transport. We were going to do a tour up to Ba Be, but it didn't end up working out. However, many other people we met there who went on other tours with her and said they were great.
The meals were all amazing! Love that breakfast is included - you get your choice of pho, banana pancakes, or egg and bread, along with coffee tea and juice and fruit. All were great! Such a nice family.
I had a great time in VietFamily. The hosts are amazing and very helpful.
The hosts made us feel welcome. They had nice accomodations in a good location. There was a mix-up with the room so we moved to the a relative's hotel close-by. They were accommodating.
During our two nights at the family homestay in Mai Chau, my friend and I had the most wonderful time. The family made us extremely welcomed. They took us for walks through the beautiful rice fields and cooked delicious local food. After one of our dinners a group of girls showed up and performed a traditional dance from the Mai Chau area. Overall it was a wonderful experience. Binh was not there at the time, but he was in phone contact through his sister and brother and made everything easy. He even organised our transport from Mai Chau to Hanoi and had a taxi waiting to pick us up in Hanoi. If you have ever caught a local bus in Vietnam you will understand how greatful we were to have someone else organise it!
Amazing spot right in the heart of the Old Quarter. The rooms are very basic, but clean and have a lot of good light.
Perfume will make you feel right at home, she is an amazing cook and makes some of the best banana pancakes. She knows the city well and gave us some excellent tips on what to see, eat, and do.
Be sure to check out Hanoi's famous Beer Corner, where you can drink 25cent beer and eat some awesome snacks while watching the world go by... a 5 minute walk from the homestay.
I would absolutely recommend staying here is coming to Hanoi... I only wish I had more time to spend in Hanoi!
Thank you for a wonderful stay!
I have a new family in Hanoi! This was such a wonderful place to stay on my first visit to this beautiful city. They greeted me when I arrived by taxi and immediately took care of me as if I were a part of the family and had been living with them for years. Always smiling and laughing, Perfume is the best host. She fed me delicious breakfast every morning, snacks during the day and dinner in the evening with family and friends. They always had nice friends hanging out and it was great to meet and talk with all of them. She even asked her friend Maria to take me to a show on her motorbike across town! So nice. She always made sure everything was good with me, getting me a taxi when i needed it or a nice cold beer. Her husband Binh took me out to some street food with his friend and we had some rice wine together like old friends. Their kids are super cute and everyone was so kind. I felt lucky to stay there. People who had stayed there in the past kept stopping by and now I know why. I'll be doing the same next time I go back to Hanoi......I think I want to move there!
Thanks for everything, Eric
