I really enjoyed staying at this homestay, even if I expected it to be more like my other airbnbexperiences. There are four/five rooms for guests in the house and that's why its feels like a family run "hotel".
However Perfume and Maria (a friend who helped out) help you with everything and want you to have a good time in Hanoi.
The breakfast is delicious and they even invited me twice to have some unforgettable dinner with them.
The location is perfect and with the map Perfume will give you, you are ready to explore this charming city.
Dear Maria and Perfume, thank you very much for this nice time!
The experiences that Pham Binh organised for me and my friends in and around Mai Chau have left a lasting impression on me. Binh and his family can show you the life of the local people in a way that can only be offered by locals themselves. According to your wishes, Binh arranges activities for you that can range from relaxing to exploring the culture and landscape of Mai Chau. More genuine and less commercialised than popular destinations such as Sapa, this homestay is a must visit!
I had a wonderful experience at this place! The room is simple and bare bones but it has everything you could need and the location is unbeatable. Plus, the host family is as kind as you can get and SUPER SUPER helpful! The place is right in the Old Quarter and within walking distance to most everything. I didn't spend much time at the place (mostly just came there to sleep) but I would often pass by and find the family hosting big dinners for friends and the folks staying there. I would happily stay here again. Kind and helpful hosts, a great location and simple accommodations without any extra "fluff". I fully recommend this place - as many others do :)
We had a great stay with Binh, his colleague Duong, and Binh's family. Travelling as a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids aged 9, 6 & 5) along with our good friends, another couple, we took the option of private transport to Binh's village from Hanoi. This included a pick up from our hotel and made it very easy and it meant we could stop along the way for drink and toilet breaks and points of interest.
Arriving at the village we were warmly greeted at the family home, a traditional raised house bordered by rice paddy fields. The property is quite self-sufficient with its own little fish farm, vegetable garden and assortment of chickens and ducks. We each had beds under mosquito nets in a shared room with some simple dividers for privacy. The toilet block is away from the house and boasts a western style toilet and shower with hot water although not great pressure and can take a while to warm up.
During our two night, three days stay we went on a few walks into the fields, along the river and to see the local hydo-electric power plant. We were often invited into people’s houses to drink tea and the, ever popular, strong rice wine. Very friendly people who are genuinely interested in having us visit and grateful that we had come to see them and how they live. Having our 3 daughters probably helped too as they love children without being too overbearing. Our girls, two of whom can be quite shy and wary of attention from strange adults, coped without any issues.
We had a great performance of local dance from the village dance group who are working hard to keep the traditional dance, songs and stories alive.
We visited the local primary school to see their classrooms and facilites which were simple but in good order.
We had an evening trip to the nearby popular village where there were a lot mor tourists and good souvenir stalls with woven products at good prices.
Overall we had a great experience getting a good insight into the lives of the people living here. The homestay is simple but comfortable, the food excellent and plentiful, the rice wine seemingly never ending and the friendliness and knowledge of our guides excellent.
It was nice. Cute family
Pham and Perfume and the rest of the family is great. They were really helpful and so generous with their time and food.
The room is basic and dated, but clean and you get your own bathroom with hot water. Works fine for sleeping and cleaning up.
Perfume can also help with organizing tours or transport. We were going to do a tour up to Ba Be, but it didn't end up working out. However, many other people we met there who went on other tours with her and said they were great.
The meals were all amazing! Love that breakfast is included - you get your choice of pho, banana pancakes, or egg and bread, along with coffee tea and juice and fruit. All were great! Such a nice family.
I had a great time in VietFamily. The hosts are amazing and very helpful.
