I love to play with my dog bono and to hang out at the beach with my friends.
The host canceled my reservation the day before arrival.
Worst traveling experience I've ever had, one of his partners was breaking into apartments trying to let us into the buildings, when we did get into one of his "properties" the condo was very unclean had a lot of weird smells. We cancelled our 4 day reservation after the first night b/c the place and people were so bad. If you want a stress free trip DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT STAY WITH SHARIF BULA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His real name is Juan!
The host canceled my reservation 10 days before arrival.
My friends and I stayed in this unit over Spring Break and had a great vacation. We met the host in the lobby and he gave us the keys and showed us the place. The location was perfect. 5 blocks from Lincoln Road. It was right on the beach with a great pool. We couldn't have gotten anything better for the price! I would recommend this host again! We were kind of nervous because of other reviews we saw but it ended up being a perfect stay. Everything was very convinent and my deposit was returned prompty.
I booked a property, my reservation was accepted and money taken out of my account. The next morning Sharif messaged me on airbnb and said that even though everything was accepted the property was booked by someone else. Then when I contacted his partner on the phone and was asking him how did my reservation get accepted but someone else got the property, instead of speaking in a calm and professional manner he started to be loud and angry telling me that it’s not his fault the hotel booked it out, not even considering how I feel that I am left with no place to stay. Shouldn’t they have checked that before taking my money and accepting the reservation? They tried to offer me another room but it was $150/night over my budget. I should have payed more attention to the other reviews and I wouldn’t have had this issue.
This was my first experience with airbnb and they pretty much ruined it.
If you are looking for a stress free trip I would not recommend staying here especially if you are traveling with more than 2 ppl.
I will say, before I explain why I do not recommend this place that it is a great location with a great pool and great access to the beach. There is a TV with cable and a nice balcony.
The problem is apparently Roney residents are not allowed to do short term rentals. We found that out the hard way when two days into our stay our elevator card was embarrassingly confiscated by security and management. When we told the host he gave us other cards (his neighbors, other ones he had etc.) and they didn’t work either. So we had to do elaborate trips just to get back to our rooms (through various dark stairwells going through the Gansevoort next door, hopping fences etc.). It was stressful and we constantly felt like we were doing something wrong. So even if you’re only traveling with two people, that part is stressful. If you go the “right” route and buzz your host to be let into your apt, you run the risk that he doesn’t answer the phone which he did two nights in a row! And that was really awful because we wandered the streets for long periods of time late at night until we finally got a hold of him.
Also, the kitchen cupboards were filled with dead ants, there were no usable pots or pans (we bought and left a pan there), there was no tea kettle, the microwave and fan were broken, the fridge had moulding food in it, the sofa bed is a web of wires that hurt to sleep on and the cushions on the closed couch are ripped and uncomfortable (my brother got bites from sleeping on the couch). There were no blankets/comforters (except for one we pulled out of a dirty hamper).
The stress of the trip took away from the pleasures of Miami. But Miami was great nonetheless.
I cannot in good faith recommend Sharif or his organization. While we seemingly had a rental agreement, he canceled my reservation four days before arrival, leaving me scrambling to find a place before one of the busiest times of the year in South Beach(New Years). I'll attempt to keep this review brief, but let me summarize the key points:
On Dec 15, Sharif (and his colleagues), confirmed my reservation for 2301 Collins Ave. My friends and I would be attending the Orange Bowl on Jan 3, so we wanted to ensure that we had a place to stay.
On Dec 28, I received word (not from Sharif, but from one of his colleagues), that this place was no longer available. While Sharif's colleague Carlos (and his assistants) "scrambled" to find a place for us to stay, they were unable to do so. Thus, 4 days before one of the busiest time of the year, we had no place to stay in South Beach.
The kicker is that these renters did not refund the entire amount! While I've had no issues with AirBnB, Sharif (and associates) claimed that there was a PayPal processing fee and thus deducted $10 from my deposit. I am currently working with AirBnB to collect this money.
$10 might not seem like much (it isn't); it's less about the money and more about Sharif and Carlos inability to deliver on a confirmed reservation.
Additional notes: In the past, when dealing with (website hidden), I've worked directly with home and condo owners. This is absolutely not the case while working with these people. They work under a shroud of secrecy, as intermediaries of the actual property owners. In other words, an extra layer of communication is added, as you do not communicate directly with the property owner.
As such, communication is an issue. These people are (unfortunately), not a legitimate business. They work under a shell organization such as (website hidden), and should not be able to list properties on (website hidden).
Hopefully, I have steered future renters away from these people. If this is the case, my review here is worth more than the $10 that I may/may not collect from these individuals.
Very nice apt, near to the beach. Thanks for all.
